Many people need their coffee to get up and going in the morning. Here at Arrowhead Addict, we understand that for a Chiefs fan, coffee is simply not enough.
Here’s all that’s happening around Chiefs Kingdom this morning.
Welcome to The Morning Fix.
Happy Football Eve, Addicts. As this is the final Saturday before Chiefs football, I welcome you to a special edition of the Fix. We start with a couple of quotes from Chiefs quarterback, Alex Smith.
“I’m ready for this,” Smith said. “I feel like because of what I’ve gone through, you grow as a player, you grow as a person. I’m ready for this. This is a new opportunity for me. I can’t say how excited I am for it. I’m thankful for the opportunity and I’m here to get to work and make the most of it.”
During the interview conducted by Reid Ferrin on kcchiefs.com, Smith explained why he wears #11.
“My brother wore #11, when I was little. I’ve always liked it. I wore #7 in high school, before an upperclassman wanted it. #11 was my next favorite. I’ve always been a fan of the number. I went to it in college and had a lot of success and then as soon as I got drafted, they had #11 waiting for me and I’ve been wearing #11 ever since.”
Also happening around Chiefs Kingdom, the team captains for the season were selected yesterday. All are familiar faces. From Rachael Santschi at kcchiefs.com:
After practice on Friday the Chiefs announced five captains for Sunday’s game: 11 Alex Smith, 82, Dwayne Bowe, 56 Derrick Johnson, 29 Eric Berry and 2 Dustin Colquitt.
Also announced yesterday following the Chiefs’ final practice yesterday were members of the team who made the first regular season injury report:
Injury Update: Nico Johnson (ankle), Jon Asamoah (calf) and Allen Bailey (non-injury related) did not practice. Travis Kelce (knee) and Husain Abdullah (foot) were limited today.
It’s about 24 hours until week 1 kickoff, and I for one, can’t wait.
