Many people need their coffee to get up and going in the morning. Here at Arrowhead Addict, we understand that for a Chiefs fan, coffee is simply not enough.
Here’s all that’s happening around Chiefs Kingdom this morning.
Welcome to The Morning Fix.
–At this point you should know that Kansas City will be heading down to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars this Sunday. That’s all we’ve been talking about here at Arrowhead Addict. This is going to be a huge game for the Chiefs, as it’s the first official game of the Andy Reid/Alex Smith era of Kansas City football.
In the NFL, starting off on the right foot is integral, and Smith feels that the team is ready to do just that this Sunday, per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com:
“I think we are ready for this, real games,’’ quarterback Alex Smith said. “I think part of it is that last step of actually having success in real games. You go through your lumps and there will be a little growing process, but I think the last step is doing it when it counts.
“You’d love to have all been together for five to ten years, in the same system, been doing this for a long time, but that’s not the case. I do feel like we’ve done great work with the time we’ve had together, and I do feel like we’re ready for this last step.”
–Sticking with Smith, he talked about the importance of getting a win in week one, per Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star:
“You love to get off to a great start, 1-0,” Smith said. “It’s 100 percent different than a 0-1 and the feeling … especially with this team and a lot of new faces and coaching staff coming together, would reinforce everything you’ve been doing.”
He also said this, according to Covitz:
“Hopefully we put up a lot of points. The great thing is I think we can do it in a lot of different ways. I’d say that might be our biggest strength. We aren’t limited to anything we can or can’t do. … We’re ready for this next step of real games”
