Chiefs Release WR Devon Wylie; Claim Others

It appears that the Chiefs aren’t done yet. Former 4th round pick, WR Devon Wylie was released from the team.

Also, the team has claimed several other players from other teams. More from the Twitter-verse:

The craziest transaction here, I think, is the Wylie release. While I thought he was on the bubble during the entire preseason, his release now just shows that Reid and Dorsey are a “play now” mindset. You couple that with the Moeaki injury and then release and you see that if you’re hurt and aren’t a top shelf talent, you’ll find yourself unemployed.
What do you think of these releases/signings, Addicts? Sound off below.

This is rapidly becoming the Jerry Lee Lewis “Whole Lot a’shakin goin on” hour.

  • Jarad

Booo! Really thought Wylie was worth keeping in this offense

    • Michael Shaw

He would have been…………had he not kept getting hurt!! Same with Moeaki.

  • Anthony

the chiefs seem serious about winning. …. finally ..

  • robjeromy

I thought Wylie made the team… He was pretty fast but when he made the cut last year and didn’t do anything to contribute to wins and also the new regime coming in… That made him expendable and also confirmed that Romeo had appreciated Wylie’s athleticism over production on the field. And we all know that just athleticism alone will not win games… Dorsey and Reid are sending a clear message to everyone: No more 2-14! Go Chiefs!

  • tm1946

Who are the new guys? Are they Sp teamers, depth, projected contributers or just guys better than what was cut?

  • Larry Devore

never heard of any of these players. Who are they?

    • Chris Tarrants

Right? We are throwing out guys we know for people we have never heard of.SOMETHING IS WRONG with the matrix and I feel like I’m trapped in another demention!MOM MOM MOM

  • Chris Tarrants

We cut who? And we added who? Shainco needs to be added if we are signing people. Not sure if I spelled his name right or not? I would put his first name on here but hell it’s even harder to spell

    • tm1946

Must be an issue, he (however you spell his name) could have been grabbed by every team in the NFL and, so far, everyone passed.

      • berttheclock

Perhaps, I am missing something here, but, why take a 33 year old TE who has been cut by two teams in need? He was signed to replace Hernandez in NE, only to be cut a month later. He was signed by the Ravens to replace Pitta, only to be cut. Loss of wheels?

  • Kyle ferguson

Is this what winning teams do? Are we supposed to be filping the bottom of the roster to get more depth? I guess they may be on to something but I always thought playing faviorts was the way to go.

And brown was cut today, sorry Payton your going to have to find some else to pick on this year

    • Michael Shaw

LOL!! Boy wasn’t that the truth!!! Picked on him like a bully on a nerd!!!

  • Michael Shaw

Um, what position does ron parker play???

  • Danny W

A bunch of no namers really. Not too much to be excited about that’s for sure.

    • Chiefswatch

We need some depth and maybe these clowns can provide it. Receiver we are as stacked as we are going to be and keeping Wylie would have been counterproductive IMO.

      • Danny W

I would have liked to have seen some middle of the line help. I don’t think we’ll suck but I think getting rid of Powe and JOnes was a mistake.

        • Chiefswatch

Powe was for sure a mistake. Who the hell made that call? Maybe he did a coaches girlfriend or something….

  • Horace Lee Madre Jr

Living in Philly, I watched Coach Reid build up the Pigeons (Eagles) from nothing into something. He did what had to be done and he wasn’t appreciated for the brilliant offensive mind that he is. He’s a throwback type of coach who’s plan is better than his players. Chiefs Nation have faith. I’ve seen what this guy can do.

  • Jim Harper

The only thing that confuses me is why did they keep Wylie yesterday and then cut him today?

  • Chiefswatch

I called this and the Moeki release. I also knew Hammond Jr would end up on team, albeit he is on the practice squad. Hit me up anytime, I can write accurate articles for this site on a weekly basis. Only problem is I might piss people off.

This might be because I am a KState fan but I saw that the Seahawks put Chris Harper on the practice team. I think he would be a nice addition here in KC.

  • Hank Stram

    didn’t Kenny Cember predict this?

  • Hank Stram

ok I admit I am his father and a big Chiefs fan and I know he felt Wylie didn’t deserve to be on the team…he also felt Cyrus Gray was a little better than Sean Draughn before any of this happened. Anyway really enjoying the “Addict” keep up the good work.
