Chiefs Lead Packers at Halftime

The Chiefs lead the Packers 13-6 at halftime thanks to a Tyler Bray touchdown pass to Junior Hemingway with five seconds left in the half. Here are a few takeaways from the first half:

No Starters – Andy Reid chose to sit his starters, which is probably a good idea. The Chiefs have gotten this far in the offseason without any major injuries, so it will be nice to start the regular season relatively healthy.

Chase Daniel – On the first play from scrimmage, Chase Daniel stared down AJ Jenkins, and threw a pick. Not a great start. It wasn’t just that play, either. Chase stared down his receivers, and held the ball too long consistently in the first half. In his defense, he was probably trying to make something happen. Plus, no one is gushing over the starting offensive line tonight (Stephenson, Henry, Kush, Draheim, Schwartz). Chase finished the night 4/8 for 27 yards and an interception. Blah.

Frank Zombo – It was a big half for Frank against his old team. I noticed him early when he did a fantastic job keeping backside contain on a run by Eddie Lacy. Later, Zombo took advantage of a pressured BJ Coleman, picking him off and setting up a game-tying 37-yard field goal from Ryan Succop.

The Defense – I feel like the defense has put more pressure on the Quarterback this preseason than they did during the entire regular season last year. It might not be factual, but boy it feels that way.

Devon Wylie Injury – Devon Wylie left the game with a hamstring injury. Not much additional information was available, but they did show Devon standing on the sidelines in full pads. Let’s hope he’s being held out for precautionary reasons.

Frankie Hammond, Jr. – Poor Frankie. You can just feel the time running out on him. He may have sealed his fate with a drop on his first attempted return. Toub even put him back to return a kickoff late in the half, but the ball was kicked WAY out of the end zone.

Kelce Injured Late – Travis Kelce hobbled off of the field with under three minutes to go at half. We’ll keep you updated on Kelce as soon as we hear anything.

Alright, Addicts. Those are my talking points from the first half. Stay tuned for a full recap after the game.
