Chiefs News And Rumors 8/28

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Many people need their coffee to get up and going in the morning. Here at Arrowhead Addict, we understand that for a Chiefs fan, coffee is simply not enough.

Here’s all that’s happening around Chiefs Kingdom this morning.

Welcome to The Morning Fix.

Let’s start off with a few quotes from yesterday’s practice. Coach Andy Reid and his team are in full preparation mode for the final game of the preseason. The Chiefs will take on the Green Bay Packers at Arrowhead.

At this point, everybody is preparing to play, according to Reid, per a report from Reid Ferrin of KCChiefs.com:

“We’re just getting ready for the Packers and everybody is getting ready to play,” coach Reid said. “We haven’t made any decisions on who’s playing and who is not playing. Everybody got opportunities today for us to take a look at them, and that’s how we’re going to go about it and we’ll figure it out from that point.”

Quarterback Alex Smith gave his thoughts on the team heading into this last game, per Ferrin:

“I’m encouraged,” Smith said. “It starts with the guys in the locker room. I think the chemistry of the team and the coaching staff, guys are willing to put in the time and sacrifice. (Granted) in the game, we’ve made strides and we know where we need to be.”

Adam Teicher, now of ESPN.com. gave his predictions on what the Chiefs 53 man roster will look like in a two-part series. Part one was focused on the offense, which you can see here.

Notably, Teicher doesn’t see the Chiefs keeping Cyrus Gray or Rico Richardson.

Topics: Alex Smith, Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs

I could see them parting ways with Gray but I think they may be more likely to cut Wylie over Richardson. This game tomorrow night will mean a lot for the WRs on the edge…If Richardson can have a great game, it might be enough to give Wylie the boot. This regime didn’t draft him.

One point about this new regime, as Bill Williamson of ESPN pointed out, they will not keep any player merely because they are afraid to admit they made a draft mistake. See Braden Wilson from K-State, their 6th round pick. He was one of the first cuts.

        Yep! New sherrifs in town

  • Stacy D. Smith

I can see a scenario where Gray gets cut. He hasn’t done much.
That would leave us with just three RB’s though.

With Moeaki down; will we only keep 2 Tight Ends?

      • Stacy D. Smith

We’ll roll with three. Not sure Harris is ready yet for the big time. He seems more like a Practice Squader this year. My guess is that they’ll IR Moeaki and sign one of the vet TE’s cut later this week.

      • ArrowFan

I think it all depends on what they end up doing with Moeaki. Healthy I would love to have him. He still might get cut or placed on IR. If he goes on IR then he no longer occupies a roster spot.

      and stay up right

I am interested on seeing Tyler Bray play a half or more.

Remember Reid and Dorsey are bullet proof this first year. Anyone who does not fit, goes home. I am predicting a winning season, mostly because teams will not know what they are dealing with, the old Chiefs left town with Pioli. Things are looking good to me.
