Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs head to the steel city to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in preseason game No. 3 of the Andy Reid era.

There’s nothing on the line during this clash as far as wins and losses, but from an evaluation, confidence and execution standpoint—this game means a ton.

“Fringe” players will be trying to make plays and stand out enough to make the roster. Even the established veterans and starters will be looking to play good good.

Momentum doesn’t carry over from the preseason to the regular season, but execution and mesh certainly does.

Here’s all the info you need to watch the game tonight:

Time: 6:30 p.m. CT

Where: Pittsburgh, Pa. Heinz Field

TV: KCTV-5

Radio: FM 101.1 The Fox. You can listen to it live here.

Live Stream: NFL Preseason Live

Point Spread: Steelers -3 (Bovada.net)

Chiefs Player To Keep An Eye On: Jamaal Charles, RB

This will be Jamaal Charles’ first live “game” action since hurting his leg. He tweeted earlier that he’s getting ready to play, so it’s safe to assume that he’ll be out there:

Here’s what I’ll be looking for. How is he cutting? Does he look comfortable planting his leg and exploding through the hole or into a cut? It’s also going to be interesting to see how long coach Reid and the staff will keep him out there.

My guess is that it won’t be long.

Chiefs Player Who Must Step Up: Alex Smith, QB

It’s only the preseason, but I’d like to see Alex Smith bounce back from last week’s performance and play a good game. You can tell a lot about a player based on how they respond and bounce back from adversity, so I firmly believe we’ll get to see the true Alex Smith tonight.

Hopefully he’ll come out and get that offense moving again.

X-Factor: Donnie Avery, WR

Somebody needs to step up to become a viable No. 2 wide receiver for this team. All indications are that at least for right, that guy needs to be Donnie Avery.

If he can go out and get a few targets, perhaps that will open up some room for Dwayne Bowe over top.

Prediction:

Kansas City 17, Steelers 14

I expect another close preseason game, and I also expect the first offense to go out there and put 10 of those points on the board for KC.
