Chiefs News And Rumors 8/14

Many people need their coffee to get up and going in the morning. Here at Arrowhead Addict, we understand that for a Chiefs fan, coffee is simply not enough.

Here’s all that’s happening around Chiefs Kingdom this morning.

Welcome to The Morning Fix.

According to a press release from the Chiefs, the team has made two roster moves. The Chiefs signed cornerback Kennard Cox and released linebacker Chad Kilgore.

Cox has been around the league  for four seasons, and has had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Seattle Seahawks. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and went to college at Pitt. In four seasons Cox has totaled 20 tackles and half a sack.

Kilgore, on the other-hand, was an undrafted free agent who was picked up by the Raiders in 2012. He was released by Oakland before the 2012 season.

According to a report from Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star, analyst Gil Brandt really likes the Chiefs this year after spending two days at camp:

“It would not shock me to see them be a playoff team,” Brandt said of the Chiefs, who were 2-14 a year ago. “I like the coaching staff. I like the quarterback. I like what they’re doing on defense. We thought they were going to be pretty good after winning 10 games (in 2010). Why the bottom fell out, I’m not sure, but I think they’re a much better team than people will give them credit.

“This is a quarterback league and a coach’s league. Wouldn’t you agree they’re better in both areas?

Brandt goes on to say this, per Covitz:

“The whole mood of the team is so much better, so much more positive thinking than it has been over the past couple of years. The vibes are so much better than last year. Andy Reid historically wins 10 games a season … except for last year. He’s a very good football coach who has surrounded himself with very good coaches. You’ll see one gadget play every game, and you’ll see a lot of passing.”

It’s obvious that Brandt is thinking what many of us have been thinking here at Arrowhead Addict.

New coach + New quarterback + New vibe = Good.

The past week at Arrowhead Addict has been filled with talk about Alex Smith, the offense, and just how important having a coach like Andy Reid is to this turnaround.

Apparently we’re not the only ones thinking that way.
