NFL Power Rankings: Chiefs Come In At No. 24

FanSided’s NFL site, NFL Spin Zone, has released their start of preseason Power Rankings and the Kansas City Chiefs came in at No. 24.

The comment on the Chiefs was short and sweet.

Kansas City Chiefs: Not on this hype train

Full disclosure here means telling you that one of the NFL Spin Zone editors, Ernie Padaon, is not only a San Diego Chargers fan, he’s the editor over at Bolt Beat.

While Ernie is clearly biased (feel free to head over to Spin one to let him have it– respectfully of course) I think he has a point about the Chiefs.

Right now, KC is all hype.

Now Ernie isn’t buying the hype. He is biased. Many of us Arrowhead Addicts are buying the hype. We’re biased, too!

We know the Chiefs have a bunch of talented football players but the reality is, at least until tomorrow night’s game, we just don’t know if they are a good team yet. Heck, last year during the first preseason game, the Chiefs’ first team looked unstoppable. Then the wheels came off.

While we may not agree with or like Spin Zone’s ranking, I actually think 24 is somewhat generous. After all, the Chiefs haven’t proven anything on the field yet. The last time KC played, they were the worst team in the NFL. Until I get proof on the field that they are no longer terrible, I can’t get myself too worked up over a preseason ranking.

Now if they play well tomorrow night, Mr. Padaon had better reevaluate his ranking.

Who cares what a San Diego Whiners homer thinks.

I just can’t wait! Go Chiefs!!!

Been to camp…Bought the hype! I’ll expect the revised ranking after the game! LOL

Criticism sent. He didn’t like it but whatever.

Preseason rankings are kind of meaningless anyway. Remember the Arizona game last year? Heck, 24 isn’t bad for a 2-14 team. Apparently he’s buying some of the hype.

I want to see the Chiefs show it on the field and shut all the naysayers up. Once that happens, (and I believe it will), I’ll be one happy camper.

Somewhat generous? Who is leading this team, Les Steckel? Come on! If Andy Reid does not help raise this team’s expectation’s as well as Power Ranking’s, we might as well just keep wavering back and forth, from Hype to Pipe “Dream”!
It looks obvious, and not just to me (ask Mike Mayock), that Andy Reid looks and sounds better than he has in years, as far as getting over his past hardships, and looks poised & confident enough to me. Good press from camp, for the most part, players are flying around more and can see Alex Smith and Reid are going to be just the spark to turn us around, not to mention the moves John Dorsey has made.
Let’s put last years debacle behind us and try to see what we really have now? Better, possibly great O-line, much better than average, IMHO, QB that is not just smart, but fleet of foot, improved vastly in the secondary, and of yea, I think we still have Jamaal Charles, right!
Uncle Ernie is always smoking something! Just look, he’s a Dolt’s Fan, S. California, blunts to spare!
Your not just in damage control mode, are you Patrick? I hope not!
I, for one, see a LOT OF POTENTIAL in our Chiefs this year! Perhaps not SB, but definitely not on the skids!
I think we have good reason, not just HYPE, to place our team higher than 24th! I think most, at least, think we can achieve .500 or better that’s closer to 20 – 15 in my Power Poll.

Just adding Alex Smith equates to instant Conference Championship, After all the guy lead the NFL in passing for part of last season, which makes him a QB Saviour.

  • Pealvin

I love my guys just as much as the next, but I need at least a 3-1 start and 3-1 finish with a playoff birth to offset all this talk!

    Go Chiefs!

you are wrong as two boys in a trash can doing the dirty when you say the Chiefs were the worst team in the league the last time they played. We had the worst QB play…and that alone was the worst…unfortunately, it is without a doubt the most important position on the field…I dont agree with that wankers judgement…nor do I agree with yours…but you have the access to post your stories, and sadly, there is little else to read concerning the Chiefs at this point.
