Just wanted to drop a quick apology to our readers and to the terrific Chiefs site, Arrowhead Pride.

One of our training camp reporters submitted a practice report to me this morning that had entire sections ripped off from AP Editor Joel Thorman’s report from yesterday. I did not notice the similarities and published the piece.

We produce our own content here on AA and were horrified to learn that one of our contributors was stealing the work of others. I got my start blogging about the Chiefs at Arrowhead Pride.

We’ll do better in the future screening our work and will work to ensure that all contributors to this site are conducting themselves honorably.

  • Chris Thorman

    Thanks Patrick.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Sorry again. Feel awful about that.

      • http://fansided.com Zach

Sorry Chris and AP. We know how good you have been to us over the years. Thanks again for understanding.

  • Pessimisticchiefsfan

“We’ll do better int he future screening our work”. Irony?

    • Stacy D. Smith

      That’s not irony.

      • Pessimisticchiefsfan

It’s not ironic to have a typing error in a sentence about doing a better job screening. Your right

        • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

          My bad morning continues. lol.

          • Joshua Herman

dont worry about it man everyone makes mistakes.

        • Stacy D. Smith

Not to bust your chops, but no, that’s not ironic.

        • http://www.musketfire.com/ Joe Soriano

But typing “Your right” instead of “You’re right” is also ironic in an argument that seems to be from the perspective of a Grammar Nazi. C’mon man, we all make minor typing errors.

        • ladner morse

          Mr. Pessimistic,

“It’s not ironic to have a typing error in a sentence about doing a better job screening. Your right”

Your first sentence was supposed to have a question mark at the end. And… your second sentence needed a period and the contraction for “you are”… you’re.”

          Ever heard this quote?

“You can’t let praise or criticism get to you. It’s a weakness to get caught up in either one.” ~John Wooden

          • chiefridgy

            Now that’s irony.

    • Michael Shaw

LOL!! Guess they got ya back pessi…….whatever!

  • ArrowFan

I couldn’t put my finger on it but I thought I had read some of that before.

  • Jason Collins

If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying!!!

    • Michael Shaw

uh, too soon and SO not cool!!!

  • Calchiefsfan

You know you try and do your best to do a good job and aren’t really expecting to be lied to or cheated, especially so close to home. But it happens to all of us at some point in our lives. The fact that you manned up to it immediately and took responsibility is a testament to yout good character Paddy. Well done!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

      Thanks Calchiefsfan. Appreciate the support.

  • Pessimisticchiefsfan

I just thought the small error was funny because of what the article was about. Calm down boys

  • Michael Shaw

Not cool, but you caught it and immediately apologized. Good enough for me, now let’s move on to some interesting info!!!!!

  • Jim Harper

May we assume that those responsible will no longer be contributing? Nice job addressing it immediately

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Yes. This is a one strike and you’re out kind of thing.

      • Jim Harper

That is a shame because I know Mike personally and he is a good guy, and I am sure he meant no harm. But with that said I know that plagiarism is a very serious issue and you handled it the right way.

        • KCMikeG

          Thanks Jim.

          • Tony Parker

I appreciated your daily write-ups Mike. If u
hadn’t of done a camp report there would have been nothing to read regarding camp. Thanks for all the info and more importantly, thanks for owning up.
Your apology is accepted here my man.

          • KCMikeG

            Thanks Tony! GO CHIEFS!

  • KCMikeG

Paddy, all AA fans and especially Joel Thoman – I am sorry. I am embarrassed. I hope that you will leave my apology up for my fellow fans to see and I hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive me.

I just got home from work and saw your e-mail Paddy. I meant no disrespect, had no intentions of doing anything wrong and didn’t try to do anything horrible to to your or AA’s reputation. I made no effort to hide that some of the information came from Arrowhead Pride. I didn’t know it was wrong to share information from AP as I see information from lots of other Chiefs sites being shared. I even specifically mentioned that AA readers should check out AP where the link to the photos of Wylie’s amazing catch was from there. If I was trying to hide anything would I have referenced them as a source? I’m not a professional writer just a homer who spends every minute I can going to camp and sharing it with those that love it too. Again, I couldn’t be more sorry and hope you all can find it in your heart to forgive me.

This is my 3rd year reporting from camp and every single word of every single report was mine until last night. I hope the following isn’t viewed as an excuse because I am completely responsible for using AP info in the report. It is only an honest accounting of what I did. I am a strong believer in accountability and have raised my children likewise. I teach them that when they are wrong to admit it and apologize. The teachers lives his lesson today.

As I mentioned in my post & Lyle mentioned in his too – it is hard to watch everything going on at camp let alone remember everything 12 hours latter when after driving back 3 hours from camp and working until midnight to get caught up from being at camp five days straight. I sat down at midnight last night and realized I had lost my notes from camp. I read the articles on AP to refresh my memory along with the pictures I took and used some of their information and elaborated on it with my personal memories of viewing the individual highlights spending 2 hours writing the report. Below is my highlight of the day from camp day #5 – every word is mine.

The battle today in the OL vs DL pass rush drills was a draw! The DL didn’t slip at all but the OL as a group stepped it up with Allen back in the fold and Fisher looking better. OT Steven Baker was getting more reps at RT and had a really good day.

The battle almost became a war when DE Miguel Chivas beat C Tommie Draheim to the point of grinding him into the ground on his back. Draheim took exception and lashed out shoving Chivas as he slowly released him and when Chivas responded I thought the two were going to start swinging! Albert jumped in and backed off Chivas but backed him a step too far which brought a roar of disapproval from the rest of the DL with Poe getting up in Albert’s face as the space between the groups closed. Albert stopped the battle from becoming a war just in time by having them square off again. Draheim fought valiantly but Chivas drove him straight back into the OL group. Albert returned the shot when he buried Hali when Tamba tried to get a little to low to get the edge on the outside speed rush.

Again, I am deeply sorry. I meant no disrespect, am publicly apologizing and only wanted to keep my fellow AA Chief fans informed. I hope you all can forgive me. If not I will wish you all well and will delete my account and go away.

We all make mistakes. It’s how we handle ourselves after the fact that shows character. High marks to you, Mike, and Paddy both for character here.

      • KCMikeG

        Thank you.

  • Danny W

Respect for the acknowledgment and write up.

  • ArrowFan

Patrick I’m still hungry for camp reports here. Mistakes are made apologies given and now the guard is up, but lets continue on here. In other words I still want my camp reports please.
