Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe has been carted off the field at a training camp practice.

Jacobs then followed up and said Bowe simply had a severe cramp.

These kinds of things happen, especially early in camp. Cramping is caused by dehydration and even thought these players are world-class athletes with professional trainers tending to them, they lose a lot of water out on the practice field. With temperatures in St. Joe expected to reach 82 today, while it isn’t blistering, it is certainly hot enough for some cramping.

Injuries are a part of the NFL and every year there are multiple players that are lost for the season during training camp. All we can do for the next five weeks is cross our fingers and hope the Chiefs are a little bit more lucky in the injury department this season than they were back in 2011.

One position the Chiefs can’t afford a serious injury is at WR. Bowe is the stud of the unit and is by far the most proven of all of the Chiefs’ receivers. In fact, aside from Donnie Avery, the Chiefs don’t really have any proven WRs on their roster. No doubt the coaches still have high hopes for Jonathan Baldwin and Dexter McCluste,r but until one of them shows they can contribute at a high level consistently during games, Bowe is indispensable.
