Dwayne Bowe Carted Off Field At Chiefs Training Camp

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe has been carted off the field at a training camp practice.

The above photo comes from @jacobs71 on Twitter.

Jacobs then followed up and said Bowe simply had a severe cramp.

These kinds of things happen, especially early in camp. Cramping is caused by dehydration and even thought these players are world-class athletes with professional trainers tending to them, they lose a lot of water out on the practice field. With temperatures in St. Joe expected to reach 82 today, while it isn’t blistering, it is certainly hot enough for some cramping.

Injuries are a part of the NFL and every year there are multiple players that are lost for the season during training camp. All we can do for the next five weeks is cross our fingers and hope the Chiefs are a little bit more lucky in the injury department this season than they were back in 2011.

One position the Chiefs can’t afford a serious injury is at WR. Bowe is the stud of the unit and is by far the most proven of all of the Chiefs’ receivers. In fact, aside from Donnie Avery, the Chiefs don’t really have any proven WRs on their roster. No doubt the coaches still have high hopes for Jonathan Baldwin and Dexter McCluste,r but until one of them shows they can contribute at a high level consistently during games, Bowe is indispensable.

Thank God it’s just cramps. Scared me there for minute!

    • oldchiefsfan

Me too!! I saw that headline and almost had a panic attack.

  • Chris Tarrants

Give him some Mydol and get his ass back out there! We need all hands on deck every day

    • superman_25_58

I would rather have him during the season than risking sending him back in and end up cramping up and tearing something in the preseason bc if this happens we just might be picking #1 again next year

      • Chris Tarrants

I understand that but at the same time these guys need to all be on the same page! I would rather have Teddy Bridgewater first overall next year than to sit at a mediocre 6-10 or 7-9 and miss the playoffs and any chance at drafting in a decent spot

  • Samuel Thompson

Man what’s going on its not even preseason yet and these guys getting injured left and right, that goes to show u u got to train during the off season

    • FaAmos

You can run and lift weights all you want but there’s nothig that replaces the rigors of actually practicing and playing football. As camp goes on you’ll have less players getting injured because you have guys that come in camp not entirely in shape and going from running and lifting weights to practicing and hitting and not everyone’s body can make they transition easily. Just hope the bug is easy on KC

  • Daniel Mayfield

Probably just his time of the month. lol My “guess” would be he’ll be back in a week. Just a cramp, it’s usually nothing bad

  • FaAmos

Why doesn’t KC sing free agent WR Brandon Loyd, he played in Denver and played well so he has familiarity with the divison and still being available I’m sure he would sign to a fair contract and would definitely help KC find the elusive No. 2 wide out.

Shit, they coulda just said Bowe had cramps!! I almost had to break out the Kleenex.

  • tm1946

Is it creeping into the back of anyone else’s mind, a player got his much deserved huge pay day and falls apart or at least takes a step backward? I am so happy with Reid/Dorsey package/plan, probably reaching for straws.

Why you gotta scare people Pat?….LOL
    Go Chiefs!!!!!

  • Jim Harper

Paddy, why in the hell did you go with that headline and scare the bejesus out me?

  • Pessimisticchiefsfan

What are you talking about dont have anyone proven after Bowe and Avery. We have one of the best group of receivers in the league!
