Eric Fisher, Chiefs Agree To Deal

According to Pro Football Talk, the Kansas City Chiefs have finally signed No. 1 overall pick, RT Eric Fisher.

From PFT:

Per a league source, the Chiefs and tackle Eric Fisher have struck a deal.

We’re told he’s heading to camp, where he will sign the contract and then participate in the team’s first training-camp practice.

The deal is expected to include offset language, but the term is likewise expected to be offset with other benefits for Fisher. More to come on the details later.

The team’s first full practice is today at 3:30 pm central time. It is good that the Chiefs and Fisher camp were able to get a deal done so he can attend the first practice!

The rookies have been in camp for three days and have already gone through three practices. Though Fisher did miss that portion of camp, he likely won’t be very far behind. The Chiefs worked mostly on passing plays the first few days and really didn’t run the ball much at all during the team portion of practice.

Now that the entire offensive line will be together, Fisher will be able to get down to business and learn to work with his new teammates.

It will be interesting to see how the offensive line lines up today. There had been some shuffling around of players on the interior of the line during OTAs.

Are you happy Fisher will be in camp?

Finally! Now let’s play some Chiefs football!

  • Austin Wagner

Not the most surprising news but really good to hear! Now he can play full contact vs Houston and Hali and get some great 1st teams reps vs a pair of pass rushing studs!

  • Jason Seibel

It’s about time. This shouldn’t have taken this long. I’m glad he’s going to be in the first “full practice” but am a bit perturbed he missed the whole first week.

      I was too Jason.

Glad he didn’t miss any full-team practice. Great to hear. Lets get to work, boys!

Great news! I think that the Chiefs must have been comfortable enough with Fisher’s progress in OTA’s, that they didn’t feel it urgent to get him signed in time to work with the other rookies. However, I agree with the previous post that it was vital to get him in against the vets ASAP.

As a lifelong Chiefs fan now in Chicago, it is absolutely awesome to see what is happening in KC. I haven’t seen this much enthusiasm surrounding the Chiefs for far too long. All bodies in camp… Now it’s time for some football!!!

This guy may just be the best left Tackle to come around Arrowhead since ol Willie Roaf. Let’s hope he just mauls folks down.

I drove down from Iowa today and got there at the very beginning. The line to get in was over 200 yards long. I have been to every camp since they moved to St Joe, but this was easily over twice as many people as I have ever seen before. Weather was beyond perfect. A little warm, but tempered by a strong breeze and no humidity. Normally I sweat like a pig but not today. The first thing I noticed when getting to the field was Fisher was there right in front of me. I had no knowledge of his signing while on the 3 hour drive, so that was awesome. Camp ran until a little past 5pm. My only disappointment came immediately after that. All players were supposed to stay and sign autographs, but easily half of them ducked out. I had bought an autograph football for $38 and only got one signature on it and my friend that drove got that for me (Stanzi). However, Alec Smith signed more than anybody and I was lucky enough to get his on a visor. There were some great people there today though. After getting in I moved with my walker over to get a $5 cherry limeade. After getting to where I wanted to sit I set my drink down on my walker and it tipped and I lost it on the ground. Right when it happened a guy was walking by and had just gotten 2 for him and his girlfriend so he gave me his saying “We have another one we can share and I thought that was amazing. Also while waiting in line to get in we struck up a conversation with a couple of young guys and after practice we made it back to our handicap parking and they came walking by. They asked if I got any autographs and I explained what had happened and one of the guys came up to me and gave me the Jamaal Charles autograph he had got. How amazing is that? I had taken two jerseys of favorite players down (Berry & Lewis) but never saw them after practice. All in all I had an excellent time despite the disappointments. Alex Smith looked sharp as a tack. Only saw him miss one. Daniel was just the opposite. The pace was very fast. DMC also looked very good. He caught everything thrown his way as did Kelce. These guys are gonna be fun to watch. Go Chiefs!
