The myth about crime and professional athletes arises because it’s easy to find examples. New York Giants star Plaxico Burress went to prison in 2009 on a firearms charge. Last year Jovan Belcher, of the Kansas City Chiefs, murdered his girlfriend and then committed suicide. Even as media everywhere were intently focused on Hernandez, the Cleveland Browns were cutting rookie Ausar Walcott after he was charged with attempted murder. In fact, a shocking 29 NFL players have been arrested since the 2013 Super Bowl ended.

But anecdotes can hide truth, not reveal it. It seems as if NFL players are committing so many crimes because every time they do, they make the news. It’s the same kind of thinking that leads people to erroneously believe air travel is more dangerous than automobile. Every time a plane goes down we read about it. Car crashes go largely unreported.

The NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2013 concluded recently with five Kansas City Chiefs players making the list. Although the team mustered just two wins in 2012, its record was not enough to overshadow the talent within.

The Chiefs were one of six teams to have at least five current players place in the top 100 of the list. Going into 2013, many fans are excited that all five of these players were retained. These five, plus a couple of other players, are expected to make a big impact.

But for now, let’s look at the Chiefs players who made the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2013 and explore other players who could have made the list.

I think every year they will make the playoffs so why should this year be any different – Chiefs make the playoffs and go to the Superbowl – …..it’s done ……I have said it, now I hope I’m right this year!

Is it June all over again? Patrick, I think you meant 7/2 and not 6/2. This may have an effect on your page traffic for today sir.

So did anyone see NFL Total Access’s 32 in 32?? This did our Chiefs last night and, not i so many words, they basically said we had NO shot at getting into the playoffs!!!! GOD I hate the fact that if you aren’t an East Coast team, the 49ers or cowboys then you have no shot to do anything!!!!!!!!!!!

And I think we’re gonna kick Dallas’ ass. Maybe that will get some people talking.
