According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Kansas City Chiefs will select Central Michigan LT Eric Fisher, if the team is unable to trade LT Branden Albert.

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p>As we get closer to draft, hearing more that if Chiefs cant deal Branden Albert, then Eric Fisher will be 1st overall pick …</p>&mdash; Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) <a href=”https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/326909160866332672″>April 24, 2013</a></blockquote>

This is a bit of a departure from what we have been hearing. Most of the rumors, reports and mock drafts have the Chiefs selecting LT Luke Joeckel atNo. 1. The general thinking is that Joeckel is the more polished, proven tackle. Most scouts think Joeckel’s floor is very high, whereas Fisher may be a bit more raw but has a higher ceiling.

La Canfora’s tweet makes sense to me. If the Chiefs find themselves stuck with Branden Albert (as if being stuck with a young, quality, prove LT is a bad thing) then it could make more sense to select Fisher, who might need a little seasoning before being thrown into the deep end of the pool as an NFL LT.

La Canfora agrees:

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p>Better suited to the power game for a year or two if Albert is at LT, less pushback in that regard.</p>&mdash; Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) <a href=”https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/326909333361270784″>April 24, 2013</a></blockquote>

Remember, if the Chiefs do manage to trade Albert and then they select either Fisher or Joeckel, KC will still potentially need a RT.

What do you think, Addicts? Do you want to see Albert and Fisher in 2013 or do you want the Chiefs to deal Albert?
