NFL Draft Rumors 2013: Chiefs Will Select Eric Fisher, If They Can't Deal Branden Albert

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Kansas City Chiefs will select Central Michigan LT Eric Fisher, if the team is unable to trade LT Branden Albert.

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p>As we get closer to draft, hearing more that if Chiefs cant deal Branden Albert, then Eric Fisher will be 1st overall pick …</p>&mdash; Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) <a href=”https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/326909160866332672″>April 24, 2013</a></blockquote>

This is a bit of a departure from what we have been hearing. Most of the rumors, reports and mock drafts have the Chiefs selecting LT Luke Joeckel atNo. 1. The general thinking is that Joeckel is the more polished, proven tackle. Most scouts think Joeckel’s floor is very high, whereas Fisher may be a bit more raw but has a higher ceiling.

La Canfora’s tweet makes sense to me. If the Chiefs find themselves stuck with Branden Albert (as if being stuck with a young, quality, prove LT is a bad thing) then it could make more sense to select Fisher, who might need a little seasoning before being thrown into the deep end of the pool as an NFL LT.

La Canfora agrees:

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p>Better suited to the power game for a year or two if Albert is at LT, less pushback in that regard.</p>&mdash; Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) <a href=”https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/326909333361270784″>April 24, 2013</a></blockquote>

Remember, if the Chiefs do manage to trade Albert and then they select either Fisher or Joeckel, KC will still potentially need a RT.

What do you think, Addicts? Do you want to see Albert and Fisher in 2013 or do you want the Chiefs to deal Albert?

Albert and Fisher would be nice only IF Albert is willing to deal a reasonable price. If not I say drop him on another team like a sack of rocks. And move on to someone else while you can. Even If that means trade for less. Proven or not. Player who is asking to much or is not there with the team to grow into a championship team is hurting the team. I seen players who took a pay cut to win. That’s who I want on my team.

Dropping him ain’t a plan, He get 9.8 mil, regardless.

What are you talking about. You make me Wonder how much you really know. BC he’s not going to get payed by both teams the sum of 9.8mil for this yr. And the Chiefs are not pay a player to play for another team. And if he does make a deal for reasonable price with the Chiefs then no he’s not getting 9.8 mil BC he has made a deal to get less.

You are making no sense. If we trade Albert to Miami, how does that leave the chiefs on the hook for any money? The Dolphins assume his contract, and any money in that contract is paid by the Dolphins. Do your homework.

Did you read your own comment? He getting payed 9.8 mil by the Chiefs REGARDLESS of what they do with him. Drop trade whatever.
If you reread my first comment you will see the comment after the sentence drop him like a sack of rocks. You will see the comment that means trading him for less. I did not say cut him. So I still wonder what you know or you see what you want to see.

Yeah, I read your comments, and they still make no sense. I never said that we have to pay him he is traded. I said if we cut him we pay him. His contract is guaranteed for 2013. So if we “drop him like a sack of rocks”, (your quote), he gets paid…..by the Chiefs.

Drop him like a sack of rocks don’t always mean cut him. Trade him as quickly as you can and make his head spin. Do I need to teach you everything those teachers didn’t teach you at your school or what son? @#$%& DAM DUDE.
You probably going to come back with a comment saying I don’t understand duh….?
You know what, don’t read anymore of my commets it’ll just confuse you even more.

          • TAZMOSIS

Hey, genius! All I said was that if we cut him, we still have to pay him. If he is traded, that team accepts his contract. Now, prove me wrong, and I’ll just shut up.

Dam dude you at it again. OK here it is again. Never said to cut him and never said he wasn’t going to get payed if he was.
            Does that clear things up.
Or maybe you should reread all of the comments. Yours and mine. I did every time I do this just to make sure i didn’t miss anything.

If we keep Albert than I would rather us draft Lane Johnson. He played LT for 3 years and as Mayock says he’s the freakiest tackle he’s EVER seen. I can see him playing RT for a few more years then replacing Albert eventually. We would have the best O-Line hands down with those bookends.

that’s fine but why not bring womack the guard back into the picture. I know guards aren’t worth a number 1. but the pundits say he may be the surest talent out there
