Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller was asked recently about the Kansas City Chiefs potentially selecting his former teammate, Luke Joeckel with the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

According to Trey Wingo of ESPN, Miller would like for the Chiefs to select Joeckel…but not so he could see his friend twice a year to exchange pleasantries.

From Wingo:

Ouch.

I’d lay into Von Miller here but I am sure his comment was made all in good fun. In every interview I have ever seen with Miller, the Broncos linebacker seems to be a pretty nice dude.

The fact of the matter is, Miller is not a nice dude ont he football field. He is an absolute beast in pretty much all phases of his game, especially rushing the passer. I am sure Miller likes Joeckel just fine but you don’t get to Miller’s level without being a fierce competitor. If Joeckel is standing in Miller’s way of getting to Chiefs QB Alex Smith, well I am sure Miller intends to beat him.

Miller’s words are also good to stoke the rivalry between the Chiefs and Broncos. If Joeckel is indeed selected by the Chiefs, well, I know KC fans will love to watch Joeckel put Miller on his ass multiple times a game, twice a year.

Hopefully in 2013, the Chiefs can do more than throw out tough talk in order to further the KC, Denver rivalry.

Hopefully, they can further the rivalry by beating the Broncos.
