2013 Kansas City Chiefs Schedule Released

Michael Hickey-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL has released the schedules for all 32 teams for the 2013 season.

We’ve known the opponents KC would face for a couple of months now but now we know the exact order of the games.

First, let’s review KC’s 2013 opponents:

Home: Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns

Away: Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills

Now that we have that out of the way, here is the 2013 Chiefs Schedule:

As far as strength of schedule goes, the Chiefs should have a much easier time winning games on the road then they will at home. Winning on the road in the NFL can be tough so thankfully the Chiefs have one of the weakest road schedules in the NFL this season. The Jaguars, Titans, Eagles and Bills all struggled last season. Those games should all be winnable for the Chiefs. I am not saying they will win, because let’s be honest, the Chiefs couldn’t beat any teams last year, but you get my meaning.

KC faces some potentially tough games at home. Along with having to play the Broncos, the Texans, Colts, Cowboys and Giants will all be coming to Arrowhead.

We will have breakdowns on the schedule coming soon but for now, use this as an open thread to discuss the matchups!

Okay match-ups, excited about the tough games at home – should be fun and get the crowd involved. Sucks that we only have ONE primetime game @ Philly. Who could’ve guessed? @@

  • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

    Initial thoughts?

  • t_tyrance

We couldn’t even get a Monday night game?

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

That is what happens when you are the worst team in the NFL. Nobody wants you in PT

      • Jim Harper

        True enough

    • Jason Seibel

We were 2-14. Nobody’s got time for that.

  • chiefcottonmouth

at least we play the Broncos in November and December, it’ll be cold and everyone knows manning can’t stand the cold. I think it has something to do with his neck getting stiff and vagina getting too moist and frozen over.

    • KCMikeG

That’s a pretty nasty thing to say but I can’t stop laughing about it!

    • Danny W

I’ve heard he does cream his panties when he hears how bad Hali beats up on Ryan Clady every year.

  • Merlin_Arrowhead_Addict

One division game before the bye. Strange

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Give Reid time to get the team comfortable with the new system. I like it

  • Bigtexjayhawk

My prayers answered. Mu vs A&M sat then Kc vs Donkeys Sun. Road trip. Will be my first time at new arrowhead!! Bring the noise!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/derekcass Derek Duderstadt

I’m sorry, but the RAIDERS vs BRONCOS on MNF? Domination, anyone? Seriously what does this league think of the Chiefs? They chose the RAIDERS over us…the R.A.I.D.E.R.S. …I will stop now.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Raiders are really popular. They draw well. The Chiefs are popular but I don’t think they are as popular outside of KC as the Raiders are outside of Cali.

      • Rcjk

Even though the Raiders are going to suck this year. brand power pulled through for them.

      • TAZMOSIS

Patrick, how popular can they be? They can’t even sell out their own stadium. If they weren’t playing the Broncos, nobody would watch.

      • http://twitter.com/derekcass Derek Duderstadt

It’s hard to imagine, but you’re probably right. As a Chiefs fan, it just feels weird acknowledging that ANYone can like the Raiders, or…well, anyone but the Chiefs.

  • Michael Shaw

5 of the last 7 are divisional games and AGAIN we have BOTH Denver games in a three week period. Why do they keep doing that?? One thing is for sure, after the bye week we will either be battling for the division lead or a playoff spot if this team clicks like they should.

  • Bigtexjayhawk

3 of last 4 on the road. They should sell lots more season tickets. Some great out of division games at home. Wish i lived closer!!!

  • Jason Seibel

It will be interesting. Donkeys twice in three weeks is crazy.

  • http://twitter.com/derekcass Derek Duderstadt

We’re ending the home games the same way we did last year – odd?

  • ladner morse

Week 1: @Jags- is there a better place to start the year on the road than at the home of the true worst team in the league? (the 2012 Stupor Bowl)
Week 2: Cowgirls- Bowe vs. Carr? Gotta love it!
Week 3: @Philly- Andy of Mayberry no more!
Week 4: Giants- 1st good test and barometer
Week 5: @Titans- CJ vs JC
Week 6: Af-raiders- let the sweetness ensue
Week 7: Texans- 2nd good barometer
Week 8: Brownies- ought to make Halloween fun.
Week 9: @Bills- someone please knock Stevie Johnson on his as for the 5th dimension
Week 10: BYE- good timing for a week off… the week before traveling to Denver.
Week 11: @Denver- time for someone to get to the un-gettable
Week 12: Chargers- 4out of 5 weeks of division foes & time to make hay
Week 13: Denver in Arrowhead, punishment time for da Donks
Week 14: @Wash- the defenses first look at rg3
    Week 15: @downgRAIDERS- it’s a pleasure doing business
Week 16: Colts- a win for the good guys, with any Luck
Week 17: @Chargers- it’s nice in San Diego in late Dec. & the team will likely be begging KC fans to buy up their un-purchased tickets… again!

Notes: gotta love the 3 straight home games in October. If the Chiefs are on a roll by then, it can only help. However, only one prime time game all year give this years schedule the Rodney Dangerfield award.

    • Jason Seibel

      Great breakdown Ladner!

  • chiefcottonmouth

at least the first game could possibly be vs. Geno Smith.we can get that first hand look at what we passed up.

    • Jason Seibel

And watch him get exposed to a real defense.

      • ArrowFan

then rise up and bite us right in the a$$

  • thabear04

It will be a good game for Reid on a welcome back to philly

  • thabear04

Why in the F are we always playing Bills over there.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

I just hope we finally beat those guys. Always have trouble with them.

      • Jason Seibel

Me too! And Berry gets some redemption!

      • KCMikeG

Amen! I would much rather we play them there as I am sick of seeing them in KC. Give me some new teams!

  • Bosco Cletus

Good grief, the last 6 weeks are murder.

  • Rcjk

no home opener or governor’s cup this year

  • KCMikeG

    10-6.

    • KCMikeG

By the way why is it we always have to play the donkeys so late in the season? Two years in a row we don’t play them until week ELEVEN. Screw that BS. Why can’t we have one game vs capt. cromedome before he has a chance to get his game warmed back up. I want him one game early like when he threw three picks in week #2 last year.

      • Jason Seibel

That would be nice. However, it’s a double edged sword. This schedule gives us a chance to really be firmed up and cruising. Also gives Mr. Manning a chance to be banged up.

      • Danny W

On the bright side he could be hurt or too tired to play by then.

        • KCMikeG

I counted on that last year which turned out to be one of many disasters instead. Swore someone would knock him out by week #11 – Not!

    • Jason Seibel

      I think that’s a legitimate possibility.

  • tribalrage

    • Jason Seibel

I love it! Well done! My only problem is that I think it will be KC vs. SF in the Superbowl and it will be subtitled the “Redemption Bowl” where Alex Smith hands his old team their second straight SB loss!

      • chiefdeorty

How sweet it would be. I can see us at 7-2 at the bye!

      • David Fritch

Hahaha that would be so funny I would crap ma pants!

    • KCMikeG

Best post EVER!! Thanks! At 10-6 I was giving one to the dolts in SD, beating the Colts, losing to the Skins (Sorry) and I will always prefer my sweep to be the faiders.

    • David Fritch

You sir win the best post of the year award!

    • Kyle ferguson

Man it doesn’t matter how bad we where last year every time the schedual is released I think of something like this, but some how I’m able to convince myself that we will when every game at least you have a few L’s it’s more realistic than what I come up with haha

    • Travis Forsyth

YOU JUST GOT ME PUMPED FOR THE SEASON GOD I’M READY FOR SOME CHIEFS FOOTBALL!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/mark.mcdaneld Mark McDaneld

Got tickets for the Chiefs-Skins game. Stoked!

  • Jason Seibel

@ JAC W – When the Jags draft Geno Smith, Chiefs D will expose him!
VS DAL W – Brandon Carr will prove why he didn’t get $50 MIL in KC!
@ PHI W – This will be an emotional win that the teams gets for their coach!
VS NYG L – The younger Manning will be too much for the Chiefs D!
@ TEN W – This will be the JC vs. CJ bowl. JC wins with 200 yds on the ground.
VS OAK L – KC has had a hard time beating OAK at home as of late.
VS HOU L – The explosive offense is too much for KC to handle.
VS CLE W – The Browns are still a bad team and the Chiefs are ready for redemption.
@ BUF W – The Chiefs win a close one as Eric Berry forces a Stevie Johnson drop as he tries to come across the middle.
BYE – The KC Chiefs are 6-3 at the break and the NFL takes a little notice.
@ DEN L – Despite two weeks to prepare, the Chiefs lose to the second Manning of the season.
VS SD W – Phillip “Cry Me A” Rivers is exposed as the garbage QB he is. Throws 4 picks, 2 for TDs.
VS DEN W – Chiefs win a close one in Arrowhead on a two minute drive. Smith to Fasano with 30 secs left.
@ WAS L – RGIII and the run option is too much for the D. They drop a close one.
@ OAK W – KC redeems themselves after earlier loss to the Garbage Nation.
VS IND L – A loss against the upstart Andrew Luck and Colts.
@ SD W – Finish off the season with a win and securing the Wild Card spot over the Bolts!

    • ladner morse

Nice Jason… and yea… I think that week three “win” could be a real rallying cry… could be a big turning point………. potentially.

      • Jason Seibel

If the locker room battle cry isn’t “win this one for Coach Reid” there’s something wrong.

        • NathanaelL

the chiefs would have to be undefeated for the nfl to take notice, but the start would still be bashing their qb. ;)

  • NathanaelL

So if we have our act back together and our qb trade works the way we like we are starting off 4 and 1. If we are like last year then were are 1 and 4. So i’m going to split that and say 3 and 2 in the opening 5 games

  • http://www.facebook.com/genemyuk Gene Yuknis

i also like where bye is at this year

  • NathanaelL

I’m looking at 3 and 2 in the second five games

  • David Fritch

@ Bills W – Berry finds Stevie Johnson and rips his leg off at the knee and tosses it into the the crowd…who in turn tosses it around like a beach ball the rest of the game.

    • ArrowFan

I thought this last year as well

  • NathanaelL

because I am physically incapable of predicting a lose to Manning we are 4 and 1 in the next 5 and a big L for the last 2 games.

  • NathanaelL

9-7 is what I’m looking at

  • Danny W

I’d say best case scenario is 11-5. Worst case scenario is 6-10. I’d be pretty happy with 9-7 and a playoff birth.

    • Stacy D. Smith

Yep. I’d be shocked if we didn’t win at least 8. I think 10 wins are possible. I expect 9.

  • Stacy D. Smith

The NFL didn’t do us any favors. Three of the first five on the road. Three of the last four on the road. The Chiefs start the season playing 3 games in 11 days. Two of them away. OUCH! Still…Looks like 9-7 to me.

  • Travis Forsyth

I’m looking forward to the dallas game. living in Oklahoma (yuck, I hate this state, luckily I’ll be a senior in high school next year) and surrounded by dallas fans, I haven’t forgotten the 2009 game! Dallas is toast this year!!

    • William Campbell

I too live in Oklahoma and love beating the cowgirls as well..

    • ArrowFan

my condolences all the Dallas and OU fans must just be toxic.

      • Travis Forsyth

you have no idea….after high school, I’m out though! KU here I come!

  • KCMikeG

Still looking for a ticket for the Season Ticket Holders Draft Day Party. Please let me know if anyone can help me find one. Thanks!

  • ArrowFan

I remember looking at last years schedule release and easily predicting 10 wins at worst. So this year I’m predicting 2 wins that way I’m pleased when we finish with on 7.
