The 2013 NFL preseason schedule was released this afternoon.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play the following teams:

Home:

San Francisco 49ers
Green Bay Packers

Road:
New Orleans Saints
Pittsburgh Steelers

WEEK 1 – AUGUST 8-11

Kansas City at New Orleans

WEEK 2 – AUGUST 15-19

San Francisco at Kansas City

WEEK 3 – AUGUST 22-25

Kansas City at Pittsburgh

WEEK 4 – AUGUST 29-30

Green Bay at Kansas City

Each of these games has a pretty interesting story to go along with it.

The Chiefs will get a preseason shot at the San Francisco 49ers. KC traded two draft picks to the 49ers for QB Alex Smith this offseason. Smith was benched by the 49ers in the middle of the 202 NFL season in favor of youngster Colin Kaepernick.

KC will also square off against the Green Bay Packers. The Chiefs got their new GM, John Dorsey, from the Green Bay organization.

The Chiefs wil also go on the road to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Former Chiefs head coach Todd Haley is the offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh. Haley got his revenge on the organization when the Steelers beat the Chiefs in a regular season game last November.

Finally, KC will travel to New orleans to take on the Saints. The Chiefs recently acquired former Saints backup Qb Chase Daniel to be the second QB behind Alex Smith.
