Chiefs Free Agency: KC Running Out Of Time Keep Glenn Dorsey

NFL free agency madness is just hours away, and the Kansas City Chiefs are running out of time to re-sign DE Glenn Dorsey.

The Chiefs spent the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. While Dorsey hasn’t lived up to the billing he received coming out of LSU, he has developed into a solid NFL player, despite playing in a defensive alignment that many believe is unsuitable to his skill set.

There have been reports that the Chiefs are making significant progress on a new contract with Dorsey. Still, if the two sides don’t put pen to paper before the end of the 2012 NFL league year later today, Dorsey will also be free to sign with other teams.

We haven’t heard any reports of other teams courting Dorsey, so that could be a good sign. If the word is that Glenn is staying in KC then agents may not be bothering to call his representatives.

The closer we get to the free agency start time, the more information we expect to be released. The Chiefs could suddenly release a player or two as they massage their cap space heading into 2013.

What do you think, Addicts? Will the Chiefs be able to lock up Dorsey in time or will the deal fall through?

If Dorsey’s price is in the neighborhood of Canty then I hope they sign Canty….

“We haven’t heard any reports of other teams courting Drosey”….enough said. I just hope they don’t overpay for him.

Let him go. They have Allen Bailey back there that will be better than him anyway. Save the salary space and get rid of him.

What about Dumerville, rumor has it he wants out of Denver. Think KC should take a shot at him.

      We have Hali.

and Houston….you don’t want 3 starting young(ISH) caliber OLBs….it sounds great and all, but it causes to many conflicts….and we arn’t in a 4-3 defense where we can try and make one become a DT in some sets like the Giants did/do….Hali is better then Dumerville anyway IMO, as is Houston (Both got to the pro bowl, and both deserved to be in the pro bowl….think of what it would have been like in the 4th quarter if we ever had a big lead and forced the other team to just pass pass pass….allowing them to actually get after the QB

Yeah I don’t think we keep Dorsey, or Matt Cassel.

This is a real head scratcher. Seems like a waste of cap space to me, but I will certainly yield to what Dorsey and Reid want to do. There is always a method to their madness so to speak. I can’t wait to find out what it is. There has been talk that they will occasionaly incorporate a 4/3. I am hoping for Canty though.
