NFL free agency madness is just hours away, and the Kansas City Chiefs are running out of time to re-sign DE Glenn Dorsey.

The Chiefs spent the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. While Dorsey hasn’t lived up to the billing he received coming out of LSU, he has developed into a solid NFL player, despite playing in a defensive alignment that many believe is unsuitable to his skill set.

There have been reports that the Chiefs are making significant progress on a new contract with Dorsey. Still, if the two sides don’t put pen to paper before the end of the 2012 NFL league year later today, Dorsey will also be free to sign with other teams.

We haven’t heard any reports of other teams courting Dorsey, so that could be a good sign. If the word is that Glenn is staying in KC then agents may not be bothering to call his representatives.

The closer we get to the free agency start time, the more information we expect to be released. The Chiefs could suddenly release a player or two as they massage their cap space heading into 2013.

What do you think, Addicts? Will the Chiefs be able to lock up Dorsey in time or will the deal fall through?
