Alex Smith To Chiefs Is Official

We all knew it was comign and now it is official.

Alex Smith is the new starting QB of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The news came in the form of a tweet from the 49ers:

Unfortunately the 49ers do not go into details of what the two draft picks are. It is believed to be KC’s second-round pick this year (#34 overall) and a conditional third-roud pick in 2014. That pick is believed to be a third that can become a second based on the conditions.

We will keep an eye out for the final details of the trade. Now that the deal is faxed into the league office, hopefully someone will leak the specifics.

Move along…move along…. nothing to see here.

      Then why bother to post?

      • Tyler Alexander

I was referring to the lack of new information. You need to take a pill Jim…

LOL!! I swear you have to be related to a Kenny Harper I know back home in Kansas!!!!

  • redcoater4life

Not to mention Fasano!! GO CHIEFS!

  • GDL40

Makes me so mad just reading about it again…… was hoping something would happen and the deal fell apart. – as a true Chiefs fan though, no othe option but to cheer for him and hope he plays well

    • njjohn

what would you prefer they do?

      • GDL40

First ….. I think we gave up too much… #34 this year and a 3rd maybe 2nd next year. Just like Cassel, he looked good in an already playoff team with SB capabilities….. I’m sure ONE high pick would’ve been enouh but they talked us into two. And yes, although I see less fans on the already dumped wagon, I would’ve preferred to go all or nothing with Geno …. just my opinion though, now gotta hope he proves many of us wrong

      • Michael Shaw

I can answer that….Draft Geno like a lot of people on here have been clamoring for.

  • Justin Jones

welcome to KC alex!! get it done for us!

    • Michael Shaw

I like the way you think sir!!

Giving up that second round pick is a killer!

    • njjohn

If he’s a success, you won’t even remember.

      • Michael Shaw

        Remember what?

    • toperspective

It’s the pick next year that kills me. It appears they were negotiating against themselves.

      • JT in the Creek

if we make the playoffs i am pretty sure no one is going to care about the conditional pick becoming a second. lets be real people…we are upgrading all over the place…kudos to Clark and company…

For those wanting Geno, I am sorry that you didn’t get your wish. Please try to give Alex a shot to show you that he is that damn good and will win some games for our team, barring any injuries on the team of course. As for Chase, he is a backup. I never thought of him as a starter in the NFL, but I was also a KU fan, so I can’t stand Mizzou!!! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!! And NO I don’t want to hear any crap about the recent Baylor debacle!! LOL!!

    • redcoater4life

Also a rockchalker, but this might be the one mizzou kid i root for….rockchalk and go chiefs!

I know you want the Chiefs to draft Milliner with the first overall. Thought I would share some info I gleaned in the last couple of days. All the experts on NFL Network said he’s a good CB but not top 10 talent. Kind of what they said about Geno. There are some good CB’s hitting the FA market now. We might grab one of them.
I think Chase Daniel is a good pick up. I’m also a KU man, myself, but I’ll cheer for any player who is now a Chief when they hit the field. At this point, who knows what the Chiefs’ brass are thinking!? Not bad moves. The only issue I really have is if Alex Smith can stay healthy and the compensation given up with his injury history.
