Dunta Robinson Contract Details are out

New Chief Dunta Robinson’s contract details have come out. His deal is 3 years 15 million dollars.

The contract is said to be backloaded as well. 4 millon is guaranteed in his contract. This appears to be a nickel or safety type deal, starting money for a cornerback is around 6 million. Look for the Chiefs to still be active in the backfield through free agency.

Are you happy with this type of deal? Do you want him as the starting corner alongside Brandon Flowers?

If we can draft Miliner in rnd 1 we will be stacked at CB. That would be a bad ass group of DBs. Flowers, Berry, Robinson, Miliner. If they mover him to Lewis’ spot even better, then we will have all four of them on the field, almost every play.

    • superman_25_58

I don’t see us using the #1 pick on milliner now.

  • Stacy D. Smith

That’s a modest deal. Certainly doesn’t suggest “starting cornerback.”

    • Doug McD

Lots more pieces of the puzzle to fall, this looks good.

      • Stacy D. Smith

I’m hoping they make a run at Chris Houston. He’d be a better and cheaper CB option than Sean Smith.

    • Jason Seibel

I don’t think they’re counting on him to start on the opposite side of Flowers. Not based on this contract. I just hope we didn’t put all of our eggs in this basket and we miss out on a possible starter because of it.

  • Michael Shaw

That is relatively a modest contract and I think it means they are going to use him at safety. Which I think sucks because I like Javier in that position. Grant it he has had shoulder issues, but I think he should be healed completely by now if they medical staff has done their due diligence. I think a backfield of Milliner, Flowers, Arenas and Berry is great. Not sure if a backfield of Flowers, Robinson, Arenas and Berry would be very good.

    • sidibeke

Doesn’t mean he’ll beat Arenas out for the job. We sorely need depth at the Safety position and have for several years now.

      • KCMikeG

Couldn’t they be planning on using him at FS competing with Lewis? I like leaving Arenas at slot/nickel and still getting a FA at CB like Keenan Lewis from Pittsburgh or Chris Gamble from the Panthers. There are also rookies in the 3rd round picks in Wrey-Wilson & BW Webb.

    • TAZMOSIS

I was hoping that the headline said that the Robinson deal fell though. Even though it seems to be favorable in the finances, Robinson just has not graded out very well. His size prohibits him from being any kind of answer at safety. And Arenas is a nickle, and that is about his value. I would have loved to see the Chiefs make something happen with Sean Smith, but the cost I believe would be prohibitive.

  • Troy Adam

Good deal, especially if its back loaded!

I am really hoping we sign TE Walker from San Fran!

    • http://twitter.com/johnwizzle12 john woodley

Walker is great! Could also be our fullback

      • KCMikeG

Plus AS has thrown to him before. All around good idea with the loss of Boss and Rucker not resigned.

      • superman_25_58

I think Dimarco “or however you spell it for you spell check freaks” was playing some smash mouth football last year, and did an amazing job as a blocking fullback IMO.

    • Michael Shaw

I think I would rather have Dustin Keller, Fred Davis, Martellus Bennett or Jared Cook over Delanie Walker.

    • Jason Seibel

I would take him or Keller at TE. That is, of course, assuming that Tony G doesn’t want to sign with us for one last season.

    • Timothy Dittemore

      Let’s hope it’s Gonzo instead….oh what a dream world i live in

    • michael carey

Walker is a CMSU (now UCM) product. He would be a hometown favorite.

  • RepOurChiefs

I have been away from the site(as far postiing goes) since midway through last season. Just wanted to get to a new start with so much bad stigma clouding our precious red ad gold and I believe the healing has started. Love this move and looking forward to what’s next! Go Chiefs!

  • Brandon g

with all these signing we have to be getting close to the cap. does anybody know how much cap room releasing Cassel will free up.

    • Danny W

I think it’s pretty close to 7 million a year. Plenty enough for a new corner back.

  • Danny W

I personally like this deal. If the Chiefs are in cap trouble they could always cut Matt Cassel. I’m really surprised he hasn’t been addressed yet.

  • njjohn

Makes me more comfortable about the deal, but, the best thing they can do is sign the GAURD OUT OF BUFFALO!!!!!!

  • Billie Cabral

So I’m assuming Andy Reid didn’t want any part of Cullen Jenkins. He brought him to Philly when he was an impact player coming from Green Bay. He only signed for $8 mil for 3 years, I guess he fell off because we have needed interior pressure since??? Dan Saleaumua? Speaking of giant simoans maybe they will look at SF’s simoan free agent Isaac Sopoaga?

  • Billie Cabral

I think Delanie Walker would be the cheapest Te with the most value, but the best pass catching options are Bennett, Cook, Myers, Keller and Davis. Davis may have some value as well coming off IR and I’d love to get Myers to smear it in THE Raiders face. Of course Gonzalez isn’t coming back without Dick Vermeil being head coach again.

  • Erik Hild

I like tge deal because it seems we could still get a CB in free agency or the draft. If we put Robinson at saftey instead of Lewis and bring in say DRC or Nhamdi I think our secondary would be scary

  • Billie Cabral

They must have some trade plans for Cassel because I see no other reason for him taking up around $7mil in cap space to be on the bench! If not, cut him already!

    • William Campbell

Im guessing cassel may be involved in the Alex Smith trade.. maybe smith for cassel and a swap of seconds

      • toperspective

I can’t see anyone wanting to pay Cassel 7M
