Chiefs, Luke Joeckel To Meet On March 22

The Kansas City Chiefs could be meeting with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft later this month.

According to ESPN’s Sam Khan, the Chiefs will meet with Texas A&M LT Luke Joeckel on March 22nd.

The Chiefs will likely meet with a number of players and attend a number of Pro Days as the draft approaches.

The Chiefs are in need of some tackle help now that they have released Eric Winston. Still, Winston’s release doesn’t mean that Joeckel will be the pick.

The draft is thought to be fairly deep at the tackle position and since the Chiefs have locked down Branden Albert to cover the left side, they may be looking to nab a right tackle later in the draft or even in free agency.

KC will do their due diligence on a number of players. Don’t be surprised when reports emerge that the Chiefs are working out QBs as well.

I still think cutting Winston was a mistake and I think drafting Joeckel No. 1 to replace a RT will be an even bigger mistake.

At this point, not knowing what KC’s future plans are, I’d rather the team take CB Dee Milliner and fill their tackle needs in free agency.

What do you think Addicts? Is Joeckel going to be the pick?

Draft Dee. You don’t draft a LT to play RT. we need a CB. there will be plenty of RTs later in the draft or in FA. @SportsTalkOfKC

Left cb right cb all considered equal. Why hating on right OT. Reed already said both RT and LT are equal in his O. Not uncommon to see top DE swap sides in today NFL. Why not have top man in both OT positions.

Eric Winston was a pompous windbag who always ruined drives with penalties. He is a strange looking guy too.

Can somebody tell me if luke or eric would transition better as a RT opposed to LT

I think your assessments are overstated, and not well thought out. Luke Joeckel is the best LT in the draft. Forget about the combine, it takes more than an impressive 40 to make a LT. The Chiefs will likely play Joeckel at RT for one year, and move him to LT the following season. Remember, Albert is tagged for this year. The Chiefs will have to go through with the same song and dance next year. Joeckel can then move to LT, and the Chiefs can get a RT in either the draft or FA. It is not wise to change more than one spot at a time on the OL. As Winston said, it is all about the dollar. The Chiefs have to work their cap in order to get the best bang for the buck. It’s not personal, it’s business.

Eric may be a better RT, I think he will end up being a better run blocker. Joeckel and Fisher are equally strong, but Joeckel has a wider base.

Geno Smith cannot hold Teddy Bridgewater’s jock. You are betting on the wrong horse in the wrong year.

Jake Long has been hurt, and played like crap. He is not worth the money his agent will be demanding. Some team will be willing to fork it over, but let’s hope John Dorsey has more sense than to do that deal. So, far Dorsey looks like a wiz kid, and is out of the gate fast. So, based on that, Jake Long will be playing for the Raiders.
