The Morning Fix: Chiefs News 3/4

You may have noticed, there are no restricted free agents on the list, largely because they rarely leave their current teams. None of the reports are indicative of the Chiefs plans for the 2013 free agency season.

DAY 22 of 30

San Francisco 49ers LB Larry Grant found himself in a tough spot, placed behind Pro Bowl linebackers, NaVorro Bowman and Patrick Willis, which led to him recording one tackle throughout the 2012 NFL Playoffs. However, his roles with the 49ers were executed in a way that could open doors for Grant, in 2013. Here’s a look at some of his strengths and weaknesses.

It was at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in midtown Kansas City. Smith, then in his sixth season with the 49ers, spent a March 2010 weekend here and shared his dedication to helping older teenagers as they “age out” of the foster care system and have nowhere to turn as young adults.

He outlined how The Alex Smith Foundation had put 23 foster teens through college in his hometown of San Diego and helped them transition to adulthood.

Yes, the Eagles were able to trade Feeley for a second-round pick a year later, but that doesn’t mean Reid developed him. It means he suckered Miami into thinking he developed him.

Same goes with Kevin Kolb. Reid didn’t develop him. He was just able to make Arizona think he was better than he is, just like the Eagles thought he was better than he was when they handed him $12 million the day after McNabb was traded.

The Packers had interest in Canty four years ago, but he declined a visit because the Packers wouldn’t make an offer first. Canty has several other suitors, including the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans, but this go around he is listening to the Packers.

If nothing else, the Packers’ decision to host a visit indicates they will once again be aggressive about improving their defensive line this offseason. They tried to do that last spring, signing veteran Anthony Hargrove and drafting Jerel Worthy and Mike Daniels. But Hargrove was suspended eight games by the NFL and later released, while Worthy suffered a serious knee injury in Week 17 and might not be ready for the start of the 2013 season.

Strange column by Bill Williamson of ESPN AFC West, yesterday, about his suggestion of the Bolts trying to offer Clady more than Denver’s tag. He even justified the Bolts having to give up 2 1sts should their bid be successful. However, Clady has been designated with an exclusive tag which means no other team can negotiate with him. Now, if he had been given a non-exclusive tag such as Byrd of the Bills, then, teams could negotiate. I believe only 3 players have ever jumped to another team after being given a non-excusive.
I still wonder about what new philosophy of the Dorsey/Reid combo will be concerning FAcy. The Packers, rarely, took many FAs, with White and Woodson being their best work. Reid working with Roseman had a disaster with FAcy, although, that one large group was unable to have the needed time to work together before the season began. Will they attempt to make a big splash or just add a few?

Patrick, as you mentioned the Packers drafting Worthy last year, did you notice how they were able to move up from 59 to 51 to take him? They traded with the Reid/Roseman pair and Philly ended up takig Vinny Curry at 59.
