Bill Polian: Nobody Develops QBs Like Andy Reid

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 NFL Scouting Combine is underway in Indianapolis and it seems everyone, from former Chiefs general managers Scott Pioli and Carl Peterson to former Colts GM Bill Polian, wants to weigh in on what Kansas City should or shouldn’t do with the No.1 pick n the 2013 NFL Draft.

Polian talked with Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star and told the Chiefs beat reporter that Kansas City general manager John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid should be careful not to reach for a QB with the No.1 pick in the draft.

Like most other folks, Polian thinks going with the best available player, regardless of position, is the way to go.

What Polian did say was that the Chiefs have a great developer of QBs in head coach Any Reid.

Nobody develops quarterbacks better than Andy Reid. So rest assured you’ve got the right guy. Whatever decision he makes will be the right one. He’ll find a quarterback. It doesn’t need to be the first guy in the draft.

Now it all comes down to Andy Reid. A lot of Chiefs fans I’ve talked to really want KC to select QB Geno Smith No.1 overall. Yet most NFL folks we are covering seem to be indicating that the Chiefs should avoid taking a QB if he isn’t the best player on their board.

The good news, if you are in the “take a QB #1 camp” is that these same experts saying the Chiefs might want to avoid selecting a QB No.1, also seem to think the Chiefs will end up with productive QB play no matter what happens, thanks to Andy Reid.

I sure hope they’re right.

I just want to point out that all of these guys weighing in say that the Chiefs should take the top rated player on “their draft board”, not Mel Kipers! We have no idea who that is or what their board looks like. It may be Joekel, but until we see what happens in free agency and signings, I am keeping hope alive that it will still be Geno.

after he kills the combine and interviews, i’m pretty confident it will be geno.

I have a feeling Reid is going to take joeckel and trade the 3rd round pick for Nick the fumbler Foles. I pray this does not happen and we get GENO SMITH who would destroy the AFC !

The indicators now are saying we’re gonna franchise Bowe, I mean what kind of money could that guy be wanting? Albert is going to hit free agency, and we’re gonna draft ruJoeckelingme number one overall, unless we can find a trade partner. I don’t think Miami has a deal done with Jake Long yet, lets get him, trade down get Geno, and to quote Crennel “I mean boom”

Why go after Long who will command more money than Albert? Just sign Albert.
