Chiefs 'Roll Out The Red Carpet' For Chris Canty

We told you the other day that the Kansas City Chiefs were bringing former New York Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty in for a visit this week and according to a new report from USA Today, Canty says the Chiefs went all out in an effort to sign him.

From USA Today:

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are working on their defensive line. They brought in former New York Giants tackle/end Chris Canty, who told USA TODAY Sports via text the team “rolled out the red carpet” for him. Canty did not sign a deal and is headed home to mull over his visits with the Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. No other visits are scheduled yet.

The red carpet? Why didn’t they just take him to Oklahoma Joe’s and buy him a Z-Man?

In all seriousness, it should be interesting to see what happens here. The Chiefs surely would have liked to sign Canty before he left town. The fact that he did doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t sign but the Titans surely have to be encouraged that he didn’t join the Chiefs while in KC.

Going all out for Canty is just another indication that Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey could be finished in KC.

Canty has the market to himself right now so he doesn’t need to rush into a decision. Still, count on him to sign before the market gets flooded on March 12th.

What do you think, Addicts? Do you want Canty to sign with the Chiefs?

Andy Reid knows him well having faced him in the NFC East through Canty’s entire career as he played for the Cowboys then the Giants. If Reid wants him on our side, that’s a good sign.

    • Patrick Allen

He can also get to the QB, which we know defensive lineman in KC are not allowed to do.

Hopefully they get him signed. If he’s truly healthy, he’ll be an upgrade at DE. Between Dorsey and Jackson, one of them is definitely done in Kansas City.

      I’m ok with both going.

Agreed I’m not impressed with either.

    Yes…Yes I do.

I see Jackson staying dorsey is done, canty would be a upgrade but he must stay healthy.

I like the signing only if the contract is worded in a way that insures us, somewhat, against his injury proneness. A 30 year old with a history of injuries and coming off a season where he spent time on the PUP list and injured his MCL in December makes me very cautious.
