Report: Chiefs To Land Special Teams Coach Dave Toub

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Bears special teams coach Dave Toub will leave the team to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.

From the Sun-Times:

"After a long and distinguished run with the Bears, special teams coordinator Dave Toub is expected to make a lateral move to the Kansas City Chiefs, two league sources said.Toub oversaw special teams for all nine of Lovie Smith’s seasons with the Bears, and he consistently had among the strongest units in the NFL."

Toub is very highly regarded in league circles and some would even go as far as to call him the best special teams coach in the NFL.

This is a huge land for the Chiefs. The Bears have yet to hire a new head coach and while Toub likely would have had a chance to stay on under the new regime, the uncertainty in Chicago may have led to his deciding to bolt for KC. After all, when the league is paying musical chairs, you don’t want to be the one standing when the music stops.

Maybe the man who brought you Devin Hester can get some more excitement out of the KC return game.
