Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports Reid Will Still Interview With Chargers, Cardinals

Despite an ESPN report that former Eagles coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are very close to a deal, reporters are reporting that Reid still plans to interview with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday and the San Diego Chargers over the weekend.

In a not so veiled shot at ESPN, the report mentions a previous ESPN report that Reid was certain to end up in Arizona.

Reid will interview with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday as planned, according to’s three amigos: Steve Wyche, Ian Rapoport and Albert Breer. Reid also plans to interview with the San Diego Chargers this weekend, which is near where he owns a home, someone with knowledge of the meetings told Wyche.

This is officially silly season when it comes to coaching news. ESPN reported just two days ago that there was a “95%” chance that Reid would land in Arizona. Now the same network is reporting that Reid and the Chiefs are close to a deal. That may very well prove correct, but he still plans to meet with two other teams.

The media loves to get into pissing contests with each other over these kinds of things. It is always pretty enjoyable to watch them snipe at each other. I’ve been wondering for a while when the major networks are going to figure out that fans don’t give a crap who was first to report something. It’s no longer the days where you wouldn’t find out the news until the paper came out the next day and the only way to get the news was to get that particular paper. Scoops don’t matter anymore to anyone other than the people reporting them. It is the worst kind of chest thumping and what it leads to is the slew of incorrect reports we have to put up with during times like these. Most Chiefs fans aren’t going to hear the news of who the next coach is from or Chris Mortenson, they’ll probably hear it from AA or from a post their friend made on Facebook.

So sit tight Addicts. The truth is coming and we will let you know when it does.

Breaking news! ESPN’s Adam shefter reports Andy Reid once pooped in a Cleveland bathroom, Cleveland now virtual lock to sign Reid.

    • Patrick Allen disputing the report, saying Reid went pee only and it was in Arizona’s bathroom, not Cleveland. CBS Sports reporting Reid is constipated.

Fox released a statement from Andy Reid “Here I sit all broken hearted sat to shit but only farted”

So the Chiefs are going to go after another obese head coach with emotional problems who has taken the Eagles, who have a much more talented roster than the chiefs into the ground. As Pioli has been in on the interviews we can call this Pioli’s ge on Kansas City. How dare we call for his firing!1

    • chiefridgy

So coaches that are not obese are better coaches in your opinion?

      • jimfromkcj

Hell yes, Gruden, Marty, Vermiiel, Cower, Harbaugh, Carroll, Lovie, Norve, Ross, Belechick, You could go on and on. Keeping yourself in shape takes disapline and that is what you are trying to instill in your players. If they don’t see it in you they are less likely to buy in.

        • Justin Gomer

          Madden, John… Yeah that’s what I thought.

          • Justin Gomer

There was also mark mangino who led KU to an orange bowl and CHARLIE WEIS who was the off. Coord. The last time we went to the playoffs and wade Phillips who was MAGNIFICENT when he coached Dallas.

        • chiefridgy

I see your point but do not think it is totally accurate.

    • Brody Hall

Idk if u can say Phili had the more “talanted” roster. When this season began the Chiefs were paper champions… Meaning they had the most “talanted” roster in the NFL lol… Fail

Just heard Andy Reid has canceled trips to Arizona and San Diego and now the deal is “imminent” and should be done by EOD.

Pioli was not involved in any of the interviews. Clark will work directly with Head Coach without a need of GM interferences and allows Reid input on GM as well. And for the record Reid has won more playoff games as a head coach then our Chiefs have won in history. He is perfect for us. He will bring excitement and life to our team. GO Chiefs!!! Scott Pioli will be replaced by mid Jan. 2013

    • tm1946

Nice, were you in Clark’s pocket during the meeting?

Look, the HC and GM will have to work together to one degree or another Drafting is great but contracts have to go with it. Monetary management is not a major concern HC but he better be aware what the GM is doing.

Drink all the koolaid you want, this move, if it happens, is a good first move but the are a ton of next moves for the Chiefs to get where the fan wants them.

And Pioli is going no where, it is reported he has about 15mil little reasons to sit there in Arrowhead.

    • jimfromkcj

David, all the reports I have heard, Pioli was in them.

  • Justin Gomer

Look. Andy Reid is a big guy. If we pull what we did to land Eric Winston last offseason by showing him the Barbecue joints Kansas City has to offer then he can’t say no.
