Report: Chiefs To Interview Falcons OC

The first potential head coaching candidate name has leaked for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Interesting. Koetter comes from the Atlanta Falcons where Scott Pioli’s good friend, Thomas Dimitroff is the GM. For those hoping Pioli will be let go, this is not a good sign. Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported that the Chiefs’ new head coach will have a say in Pioli’s future. The fact that the first candidate to have his name leaked was hired by one of Pioli’s closest friends doesn’t exactly inspire confidence that the GM is on his way out.

Despite the fact that the Falcons are in the playoffs, the Chiefs have been granted to interview Koetter on Tuesday. Atlanta is on a bye this week.

I agree with your comment about hiring Koetter would most likely end up keeping Pioli.

On the positive side, at least Hunt seems to be moving fast on finding the next head coach. He’s had plenty of time to make a list of candidates. I would love to see him move fast on this and get it done quickly.

I will also say that the longer it takes to hire a new head coach, the more likely Pioli will be retained. If finding a new HC takes a long time then they will hamstring themselves in finding a new GM and will convince themselves it is better to keep Pioli.

ahhh Ehud. I knew as we entered draft season you’d resurface!

I don’t like this interview at all.

Resurfacing while I have the time. Fortunately my jobs have kept me so busy that I haven’t had time to fully witness the horror that was this past season.

Hunt has to start somewhere. Not a fan of Koetter either but, there are worse guys to start with.

One scenario that would be pretty nice is if Bruce Arians was hired as HC and used his connection to Cowher to get Bill Cowher as GM.

Could just be stockpiling options. Does seem odd though to start with someone with no HC experience when some big names hit the market today.

I knew Koetter would get a head coaching Job. I wonder will they interview Bruce Ariens.

Not much wow factor but if he is a winner and can change what we saw this year, why not?
But if this, in any way, ties to keeping Pioli FOR ANY REASON, keep on walking. This would fly in the face of Clark’s statement about him hiring the new HC because I am betting Clark could not id Koetter’s pic in a police lineup. If he doen’t get involved in the every day oper. of Chiefs, how would he know anything about Koetter. Sort of stinks of Pioli’s workings.

If Pioli stays on it doesn’t matter who is hired as the coach. Why would any worthwhile coach join this dysfunctional organization?

Doesn’t matter who we hire… if Pioli is still around and is calling any shots what so ever we will have back to back first round picks!! GET HIS ASS OUT OF HERE!!!!
