More Quotes From Clark Hunt

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs chairman and CEO, Clark HUnt, continued making the media rounds this afternoon. He sat down with Soren Petro of 810 Sports Radio this afternoon.

We jotted down some quotes. Keep in mind this is not the entire transcript.

Any time that you have a year like we’ve had, where you win two games, nobody gets a  passing grade. And Scott, he knows that.

There ultimately could be more changes.

On if the head coach will have a say in if Pioli is kept.

I wouldn’t say that. I would say that chemistry is very important. Even though I won’t have one answering to the other, it is very important we have good chemistry in place.

On getting the coaching search started early:

Four years ago when we went through the search process in January we were late.

On a timetable for the new coach hire:

It could happen quickly or it could take several weeks depending on what happens with some candidates that are associated with teams that are in the playoffs.

On the field:

Some of the candidates have the experience they’ve been involved in personnel at some point.

On who he listens to for advice:

I have a lot of friends who have been part of the bus for a long time. I talk to them periodically.

At the end of the day, I have to make the decisions on my own.

On Pioli being retained not being popular with the fans:

I know what the fans want and that is the same thing I want and that’s to win.

On the salary cap and the Chiefs being cheap:

The financial side of it will not hinder us in making a decision.

(on the head coach or players)

We’ll use it. We’ll use it to put a team on the field that will win.

In closing:

Again I want to apologize to the fans on what we had to endure on the field in 2012.

Nice quotes but can he deliver on them. If he hire Josh McDaniels, Pioli would be happy and stay. Would that satisfy the Chiefs fans? They interviewed a Sp Teams coach, would that satisfy the fans for HC? Tough times ahead for Hunt but I am happier to know he has decided to get into the day to day operations, he may not know much but he will learn and might become a better owner in the long run.

I suspect he knows more than you give him credit for. After all he learned from one of the best owners in the business and did not just come on board after Lamar died.

Actually if you consider his college years and goldmansachs career, he did just come on board. When he was a kid standing around, I doubt he sat in on many meetings with dad deciding about Stedman or Carl. He put all the eggs in the Pioli basket and did nothing to change things as we went thru how many Coor.s, Haley, and Crennel. Almost like he got the ownership when he fell of the turnip truck.
He will learn but may be painful for fans. By the time he is respected by the fans, he will be a lot older. Meanwhile, a lot of fumbling around and correcting of mistakes, monetary mistakes. and team losses.

Looks like Pioli wont be shoving his New England offence and deference down the next head coaches throat. We might finely get away from the 5 yard passing game. . That is a victory all in its self. .
