We’ve heard a lot recently about how there isn’t a QB in this year’s NFL draft that is worthy of a top pick. We all know that college numbers don’t tell the entire story in terms of a QB becoming a successful NFL starting QB, but I thought it might be interesting to look at some of this year’s top QB prospects and some of the recent top QBs taken. What I did is take this season’s three top prospects (Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, and Tyler Wilson) and look at their stats for their past two seasons. I then looked at seven other NFL QBs that were taken in the first three picks of the draft that also started at least two seasons to see how they match up. Instead of just giving you the information I thought I’d make a contest out of it. So can you match the QB to his numbers?

Here are your possible answers:

A. Geno Smith
B. Matt Barkley
C. Tyler Wilson
D. Andrew Luck
E. Robert Griffin III
F. Sam Bradford
G. Matt Ryan
H. Matt Stafford
I. JaMarcus Russell
J. Alex Smith

And here are your options:

QB #1
565-824 (68.6%)
7,841 yards (9.5 YPA)
86 TDs and 16 INTs
23-5 record

QB #2
551-776 (71.0%)
6,855 yards (8.8 YPA)
69 TDs and 18 INTs
23-3 record

QB #3
526-839 (62.7%)
7,025 yards (8.4 YPA)
45 TDs and 19 INTs
15-10 record

QB #4
387-583 (66.4%)
5,199 yards (8.9 YPA)
47 TDs and 7 INTs
22-2 record

QB #5
696-1016 (68.5%)
8,389 yards (8.3 YPA)
71 TDs and 13 INTs
17-8 record

QB #6

21-6 record

QB #7

5572 yards (8.5 YPA)
43 TDs and 17 INTs
22-4 record

QB #8
554-833 (66.5%)
6,801 yards (8.2 YPA)
75 TDs and 22 INTs
17-7 record

QB #9
595-856 (69.5%)
7794 yards (9.1 YPA)
59 TDs and 14 INTs
17-9 record

QB #10
429-731 (58.7%)
5982 yards (8.2 YPA)
44 TDs and 20 INTs
21-5 record

So let’s see if you can pick out who is who. Post your answers in the comments below and I’ll post the answer key later tonight. Then you can compare this year’s class to previous years picks.

Good luck!
