Chiefs Sending 5 To 2013 Pro Bowl

The 2013 NFL Pro Bowl rosters were announced this evening. The Kansas City Chiefs will be sending five players and a couple of them are surprises.

Here they are:

1. Jamaal Charles
2. Tamba Hali
3. Derrick Johnson
4. Eric Berry
5. Dustin Colquitt

Berry and Hali are starters, as is Colquuitt.

I have to say, a couple of these surprise me. We told you a few days ago that Eric Berry was regaining his Pro Bowl form but I didn’t think enough people would have noticed in time to get him there this year. Looks like I was wrong.

Tamba Hali had an excellent year, though it was a down year for him.

The most deserved selection here, save Charles, is Dustin Colquitt. He has been so good for so long and has been passed up for punters with better average yards per-punt. Finally, Colquitt is being recognized for his ability to pin teams deep.

I’m glad Colquitt got recognized. I’m pretty shocked that Berry and Hali are going, let alone starting! Five pro bowlers from a two win team show you how horrible are schemes and coaching really is.

Yeah I will take it. Shows we aren’t all crazy for thinking this team has talent. Now we just need a QB and some coaches who know what the heck they are doing.

I expected Charles and Colquitt. I thought DJ had an outside chance. Five named to the Pro Bowl? WOW! How did Tamba go over Houston? Houston is clearly the more complete Linebacker.

    • Lyle Graversen

Name recognition is probably 75% of pro bowl voting.

Yep. If the Chiefs were any good, Houston would have made it too.

      • Stacy D. Smith

        That’s a fair point.

Yah Houston had 1 more sack and the better year. I’d say we’ll see him in there in years to come though.

Can we see a side by side stat comparison for Hali and Houston? Hali over Houston baffles me… am I crazy? Houston seemed to be superior to Hali this year.

    • Brandon Mecham

Id like to see those stats as long as they factor in how many times hali gets double teamed compared to houston.Without Hali i dont think Houston would be having as good of a year.

      • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

I’d guess if there is a back int he backfield staying in to block, he’s chipping Hali more than Houston.

  • Lyle Graversen

If ever there was proof that a coaching staff should be fired, I think having three more pro bowlers then wins is it.

      LOL. Excellent point.

    • Danny W

No bigger indictment then that. RAC and crew are miserable.

So having 5 players make the Pro Bowl has to entice coaches a little more to want to come here….right?

    • Calchiefsfan

And the 1st pick in the draft and of course millions of dollars. Let’s hope Clark pulls out his checkbook for the new coach and GM.

Kudos to these five! Snubbed – Flowers and Houston. Interesting that Bowe did not make it, not that I am that high on Bowe. Maybe if we had a better QB and offensive coaching. Hopefully having five named to the PB will entice a good coach to think twice and give KC a legitimate consideration for coming to coach here.

    • Stacy D. Smith

Bowe wasn’t in any danger of going this year. He simply didn’t have the numbers.

        How could he of….
