Chiefs Waste Heroic Effort By Charles, Fall To Colts 20-13

The Kansas City Chiefs wasted a huge day by RB Jamaal Charles by losing to the Indianapolis Colts 20-13.

The Chiefs ran all over the Colts but pathetic play at the QB position, combined with mind-bogglingly stupid play-calling down the stretch by offensive coordinator Brian Daboll doomed the home team.

There are many reasons the Chiefs lost today. A Brady Quinn pick six and stupid penalties chief among them. But the reason the Chiefs are in the boat they are in now and have been all season, is because of poor coaching.

This play, late in the game, sums up what is wrong with the Chiefs.

Facing a 3rd and long, with just under three minutes to go, Daboll called a draw.

With Peyton Hillis.

Jamaal Charles finished the day with the day with 226 yards on the ground. Hillis added another 101.

But the Chiefs couldn’t find the endzone enough to put the game away.

And now the Chiefs have all but clinched the #1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Has a team ever rushed for 350 yards and lost? (Other than the Chiefs obviously…)

Thats been our MO for the last three of the last four years bro. Sad but true.

I’m glad the offensive line looked good today along with the defense. That said I’m glad we lost, I want the number one pick.

Yeah it is bittersweet. Frustrating that they lost but probably for the best.

If we can just get a qb and a new coaching staff that doesn’t call a draw on 3rd and 8 I can see a quick turn around for this team ala the colts this year. Our defense and running game are forces to be reckoned with.

It wasn’t just the 3rd and long, what also got me was the 4th & inches…we had 1 200+ rusher and another 100+ rusher…..and yet you let the turnover prone horrible QB try and do it….the play calling by daboll just doesn’t make sense???? and then play after play i just see crennel standing there on the sidelines almost no emotion from the guy like he doesn’t even care….I guess he does know his job is over in another week….

Santa all i want for Christmas is the #1 draft pick, and a franchise QB….is that to much to ask for????

Me too but I figure that the Chiefs will probably trade picks to get Alex Smith. It fits their profile but we’ll see.

I want a competent coaching staff and gm.

Too many penalties on Stephenson and the offensive line as a whole, but aside from the stupid penalties they played rather well. With proper coaching this defense can be very good. They do need a strong corner opposite Flowers. Even Wylie played pretty well. We need a QB first and foremost. Next a top corner. Third should be a top receiver and we need to pay Bowe what he wants. Isn’t that obvious? I think we should keep Hillis. He has had such a poor season that we can keep him cheap. Also a DE in the vein of a JJ Watt and let Dorsey go. Jackson is coming on so keep him, but rework his contract. Siler has come along nicely but we still need an ILB. The shopping list is large but doable. I do not want to trade out of the top pick. I want Geno and take the proper time to develop him and make him our future. He has great upside. By the way I think that the only way you keep Bowe is by giving him a QB that can actually throw.

You should do a mock draft Jimbo.

One step closer to Geno Smith. The last thing we need is to pickup a garbage win and lose out on a good QB prospect.

    • Danny W

      Agreed.

    • Danny W

We should go after Jake Long if he hits the market and resign Albert, so our new franchise guy has his blind side secure for a long long time. Getting Bowe locked up would only add to what we could do on offense.

ONE MORE YEAR! FIRE DABBOLL! THEY WILL FIX THEIR MISTAKES AND BECOME A BETTER TEAM NEXT YEAR! its hard to throw in the towel but i say they go out their and beat denver and show that next year, we will be the big deal.

Charles keeps moving up the ladder of my all time favorite Chief players, he doesn’t pout or quit.
