Chiefs Player Kills Self After Murdering Girlfriend

Details are still coming in but it appears there has been a tragedy at Arrowhead Stadium this morning.

Right now we know there has been a shooting at Arrowhead and that the facility is in lockdown mode. There are reports that there is no on-going threat.

KCTV5 is reporting that a Chiefs player killed his girlfriend and then himself.

From KCTV5:

Police are investigating two deadly shootings Saturday morning that they said are related.

The shootings involve a Chiefs player and his girlfriend.

The first shooting was reported about 8 a.m. at a home near 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue. The second shooting was reported a short time later at a Chiefs practice facility located on the Arrowhead facility.

Officials said the Chiefs player shot and killed his girlfriend and then drove to the practice facility where he shot and killed himself.

It’s unknown if people were at Arrowhead or any of its surrounding facilities at the time.

Danny Parkins of 610 Sports reports that a Chiefs player, 25, shot and killed his girlfriend before driving to Arrowhead Stadium. According to Parkins, the player was in the parking lot at Arrowhead where he came into contact with multiple coaches. The player then reportedly turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.

There is a name floating around. We do not feel comfortable reporting it right now. As soon as there is a confirmation we will let you know.

From Facebook “Apparently DE/LB Jovan Belcher shot his girlfriend at her home around 8 and then drove to a Chiefs practice facility where he then shot himself as coaches and/or teammates approached him.”

I can’t recall ever having been this shocked, by anything. When a friend first texted me this morning I thought it was some kind of awful joke.

This team, my god. How can they be expected to go to work tmrw? They’ve got to cancel this game, right?

The worst part of this whole tragedy is that there is a little girl who will never get to know her parents. :(
