Chiefs And Panthers Will Play On Sunday

Despite the fact that one of their players murdered someone and committed suicide in the parking lot of the stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs will play the Carolina Panthers in a football game on Sunday.

From the team’s website:

“After discussions between the league office, Head Coach Romeo Crennel and Chiefs team captains, the Chiefs advised the NFL that it will play tomorrow’s game vs. the Carolina Panthers at its originally scheduled time.”

While I don’t personally agree with the decision, it isn’t my decision to make. I was worried about the NFL forcing the team to play but if Coach Crennel, GM Scott Pioli and the players want to play, that is their call.

Will you be heading out to Arrowhead tomorrow to cheer on the Chiefs? It is sure to be one of the most emotional scenes in franchise history.

This is surprising but at least they are playing because they want to and not because the NFL is forcing them.

I hope and pray that no one pressured them to make that decision and it is truly what they want. I also hope that KC fans turn out and support them no matter what the product on the field looks like. I can’t imagine what it will be like for Crennel to try and coach tomorrow after what he witnessed today.

It’s tough for me to agree or disagree. Everyone deals with grief and loss in their own way, there is no right or wrong way for them to feel. They might just want to get the game over with so they can deal with their feelings without a game looming on monday. Since I wasn’t there and didn’t know anyone involved personally it would be inappropriate for me to say yes they should or no tjey should not play. I do know I’ll be watching as usual allbeit with a heavy heart. Belcher always seemed like a good kid and a classy guy on the field so this really is shocking.
