Stanford Routt Clears Waivers

The Kansas City Chiefs cut CB Stanford Routt earlier this week, allowing him to be potentially claimed on waivers by any of the other 31 NFL teams.

But no team claimed Routt.

If Routt had been claimed it would have been good for the Chiefs. The new team would have picked up the rest of Routt’s contract. Unfortunately, none of the other GMs in the NFL are stupid.

They all passed, meaning Routt is now a free agent. It also means the Chiefs still have to pay Routt his $1.8 million base salary.

Just think, the Chiefs are paying Routt $1.8 million for Javier Arenas to get burned by the Steelers on Monday night.

Routt is also collecting $5 million from the Oakland Raiders.

Since he is getting paid not to play for a couple of teams, Routt will likely be just fine with signing a base salary deal with some team to finish out the season. Don’t be shocked if he signs with the New England Patriots for the league minimum, plays well for them and wins a Super Bowl this season.

That, my friends, is Scott Pioli putting the Patriot Way into action.

Wow how right are you!!! Patriot way played clarky

He will need to be signed first. You may absolutely be correct and believe me I share your skepticism, however what if no one signs him? I mean if he is worth playing on our team shouldn’t he be worth playing on others, especially at the league minimum.

    This buds for you Pat:

Stanford Routt is drawing interest from the Dolphins, Cardinals, and
    Lions. Not NE….atleast not atm.

“Routt cleared waivers after being cut by the Chiefs on Monday.
The 29-year-old allowed a dreadful 64.1 completion percentage, 491 yards, and
three touchdowns in seven games as Kansas City’s right corner this year,
according to Pro Football Focus. Quarterbacks had an astronomical 111.9 rating
    throwing at Routt.”
What a tragedy to waive such a player! I’d rather see someone else give up these gawd awful numbers and make a lot less doing so! See YA Routt!

EXACTLY!!!!!! I don’t understand why you (PAT) think routt is so much better then Jaiver. we KNOW Routt was horrible. You should keep an open mind about Jaiver, he cant be worst then Routt. We all agree he is a better tackler and more aggressive.111.9 Rating against him and he is good for 2 free first downs from holding. For anyone who will mention other players doing bad I say this… cut all bad players that have zero chance to be traded that suck. Dorsey and Jackson could be trade material. If it was a bad move to cut Routt at least ONE team would have put a claim in for him. Nobody wants him and don’t give me bull about his contract. If they thought he was good they wouldn’t risk giving him the power to choose where he plays.
