The Kansas City Chiefs have announced, via a Tweet from 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City, that QB Matt Cassel will start Monday night vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.

QB Brady Quinn, who suffered a concussion in a loss to the Oakland Raiders, has not yet been cleared to play. Quinn was named the starting QB prior to the game against the Raiders, however he lasted only one quarter before suffering his injury.

This move makes the most sense for the Chiefs, for a number of reasons. Quinn’s safety is top priority and if he has yet to be cleared by doctors than it is important to make a decision on the starter now so that person can prepare.

Cassel will make his second consecutive start in relief of Quinn. Last week vs. the San Diego Chargers, Cassel was 19 of 29 for 181 yards with 0 TDs and one interception. The Chiefs lost the game 31-3.
