Chiefs Waive Stanford Routt

John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE

According to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star, the Kansas City Chiefs have waived CB Stanford Routt in order to make room for DT Shaun Smith.

What. Is. Going. On.

I…don’t understand this. Routt hasn’t played that well but he sure as heck isn’t worthy of being cut. Especially considering some of the other players the Chiefs have on the roster.

“The transition was taking a little bit longer than I thought it was going to take,” Crennel said, “so we just felt like it was time to part ways.

“He was trying to learn the system and he trying to adapt and making some progress at that but I needed it to be faster. I thought it was going to be faster but it wasn’t happening so I made the move.”

If this is true im done with these loosers for the year. Obviously they have no freaking clue what they are doing.

  • Brandon Mecham

Wow I’m impressed. Pioli has now fixed the problem. We should win the rest of the season now. /sarcasm

    • Jonathan Aldridge

ya 9-7, wildcard spot and winnin da super bowl

  • Chiefsker16

Wow! Great move Pioli! Granted Routt hasn’t been playing that well but he’s the best option we have to play next to Flowers! Now that we have 4 NT and 1CB we should start winning! Go CHiEFS! At least Romeo stepped down as DC!

  • http://twitter.com/taylonr Nate Taylor

Obviously a desperation move. That & promoting Gibbs is a classic overreaction.

At 3-6 Shanahan bailed on the team.

At 3-6 Bud Adams put his entire team’s jobs on the line.

At 1-7, KC waives a CB and promotes someone internally to DC.

They’re done for the year, but they’re going to keep rearranging the deck chairs.

    • Jonathan Aldridge

3-6 is different than 1-7. obviously we would have had a lead in one of those 3 games

  • micah stephenson

That’s dumb! Besides Flowers our CB’s sucks! Waiving Routt right before we play Mike Wallace and the steelers! Brilliant!

    • Danny W

Agreed. Whose going to play outside, Brown? Come on man this move is very stupid.

  • SlickGoldie

This is freakin hilarious!! The guy Pioli hand picked to bring in to replace the great Brandon Carr has lasted all of 8 games!!!
PLUS…Arenas may have a concussion which means T-Daniels is the last man standing unless Perv Smith suddenly dropped 150 lbs and it playng CB now!
Haley just pulled a rib laughing so hard about the matchups next week for Pitt’s O vs these turds (minus Flowers of course).

  • Gerry

I am so glad that we only have half the season left. I cant wait to tell the Chiefs to STICK IT when they send ticket renewal forms.

  • Gerry

Next they will activate Emmitt Thomas to play CB

    • http://www.facebook.com/ray.crabtree.98 Ray Crabtree

Probably better than the CBs we are putting out there right now aside from Brandon Flowers

  • Derek Jamison

Hunt needs to waive Crennel and Pioli. I feel so sorry for the players…they have to be hating life.

    • ArrowFan

especially the ones who keep turning the ball over

  • Daniel Mayfield

Just another way for Pioli to say “Hey! Fire me! I screwed you up now I’ll go to a team in the same division and do good to easily beat you, since that teams owner payed me to!”. He’s an idiot, he’s the 1 that needs cut. Him and Cassel

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

I’d keep Cassel. He is a solid backup option. No need to empty the QB cupboard. But you are right. This is a really stupid move by Pioli.

  • Jonathan Aldridge

    wow…

  • Cha-iefs

Why’s everyone buggin about this? I was into giving him [Routt] a chance to turn his play around in KC but it left me quickly longing for B Carr! This dude has been hot garbage! I’m glad to be rid of him and making moves. Why wait? seasons toast and I don’t mind Brown getting reps. Get some games[8!] in and see what they have in them at season’s end. I like that they brought back Smith. He brings a nasty ‘tude to the D line. Not to mention It fills a spot if Glenn’s calf is serious. These next games will be great Exp for Arenas as a 2 & Brown a nickle, thats a positive and lose a negative [Routt]. Clearly Routt isn’t going to ever get better. He was a flag collector in Oak and was doing much the same in KC. I was fooled into giving him a chance at first, but like i said, I was missing Carr almost immediately.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Routt is the 2nd best corner the Chiefs have. He may not be great but cutting him makes zero sense. They made the team worse, not better.

      • ArrowFan

It could mean that Arenas is getting a shot to prove he can handle a starting roll. If not then he may be next.

        • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Why can’t Arenas get his shot with Routt on the team?

          • Cha-iefs

How often do you see a outside guy move into the nickle? The progression goes the other way. Routts not playing nickle and why in the heck would you pay him to ride the bench or play STs if you know your moving on from him next season? Waive him and see who wants to ball for the team. It sure as heck wasn’t Routt the flag collector.

          • ArrowFan

Good point, could be that Romeo knows a lost cause when he sees one. Personally I want Arenas gone as well he gets picked one every time he is on the field.

      • Lenny Lieurance

Well, I, for one, have seen T Daniels play sooo much better than Routte, granted that was last year, but also the season is done, why not see what the young guys have? Better to cut him now rather than pay him to warm the bench.

      • Cha-iefs

we’ll see. what are you worried about by them “making the team worse” ? That KC might not win the DIV now?

Why do they need to wait until the offseason to dump Routt if they know they want to go in another direction? What does it hurt to give these other guys a shot and I don’t buy the depth aspect of CBs. How many times a game do you see Routt or flowers subbing out? I’m not into paying him to play on STs. Move up a Prac squad guy. If you want to talk about depth then this is a great time to evaluate the team and see who has character and still plays hard in the face of a horrific season.

    • tm1946

Not all that sure of your world but in the NFL you normally have 4-5 CBs to fill different requirements. Routt could have been demoted to nickle or whatever. You might have noticed we have no depth on the OL, a Guard playing Center and now we got no depth at CB. But have it your own way.

      • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

        This.

      • Cha-iefs

How many times you see KC run a dime or Qtrs package?!? You talking about a video game or what the chiefs do in real life? We don’t need Routt on STs. Besides there’s a ton of schemes to run with only 2 CBs on the field at a time. You need him as a gunner on teams, lol? Com’on man. I’m not buying the depth theory or how this makes this team worse. Safe to say the teams bad and there arn’t any expectations other then to evaluate the remaining players.

  • chiefridgy

    WTF

  • trukillaz

This Route Shit was just dumb as hell!!!

  • ArrowFan

Maybe just maybe the coaches are seeing things that he does that are affecting the defense as a whole negatively Like for instance he is some how effecting the rest of the back field. Or maybe just maybe they think he is the reason for all the fumbles.

    • KCMikeG

If that is true then it would be the only logical explanation of this move.

  • ArrowFan

I would expect more of this going forward our problems go way beyond just the GM and the coaches. I would also like to see if Whylie can return a punt without fumbling the ball, and if so then Arenas needs to go as well.

  • http://www.facebook.com/corey.evans.33 Corey Evans

Wow these reviews are far more negative than I would’ve anticipated. I’m thoroughly for this move as Rout showed he has zero anticipation of a receiver’s route which ultimately helps lead to us being routed every dreadful week. Number two corner or not he was humiliated against Oakland and was made full aware of it by their organization as they bluntly showed him why he was canned. Frankly, his one interception is slim compensation for his overall performance. Not impressed at all since the Raiders stuck with the game-plan of show no mercy on him. Brown has been lights out on special teams. Allow him the chance to see the field more like he has deserved.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

But Routt was not the worst player on the team. He isn’t the worst CB on the team. Cutting him is inexplicably stupid. The fact that he isn’t the best player on the team doesn’t mean he should be cut.

      • Cha-iefs

They were looking at him as the replacement to carr. They CLEARLY see he’s not the guy. Theyre moving on. They don’t need him as a nickle. The PROGRESSION doesn’t work that way. You don’t put a outside guy on the inside. [It's happens but rarely and That never pans out even when it is tried out of desperation.] so why keep him? STs? Depth? Those are lame reasons to pay this dude his contract. WELL SAID COREY EVANS! Routt is hot garbage as a 2 and that was his only reason for being in KC.

        • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Getting rid of your more talented players never makes sense. It never makes sense to get rid of a guy like Routt and keep a guy like Brown or Daniels.

Fact of the matter is, this is another instance of Pioli/Crennel trying to place blame on another fall guy. It is another poor decision.

          • Cha-iefs

It doesn’t make sense to cut a higher paid underperforming guy [Routt]? You can’t see the forest through the trees. Why on earth are you going to keep Routt on the roster and bench him and/or put him on Teams for $6M a season!? He’s a 8 season bust in the NFL. He’s getting worse not better. He had some INTs last season but he does more damage then good on the field. Can you imagine what it’d be like if they kept him and used him on teams and cut a STs guy that made $500k? You’re totally missing the business aspect and looking at this like it’s a videogame. “You don’t cut talent, you keep it!” Blah blah…It’s not realistic to just plug him into the NB spot, lol. Why didn’t the Eagles keep all their “Elite” CBs when they had the chance? Samuel,DRC & Asomugha. Bcuz life isn’t a video game. None of those outside guys were moving inside to play NB. Routt was here to take Carrs spot. [becuz that past offseason tells us the Chiefs had no intention of offering him the money he wanted OR placing the tag on him.] Routt in,Carr to dallas, tag to Bowe. Youre just emotional and trying to hang everything around Pissoli’s neck no matter what or if its a “who cares move.” Routt was on his way out and he’s probably not the only one. Thats why I keep saying bring on the player evaluations. How are you going to get guys to play for heir jobs when you cut a no name P.O.S. that makes $220k. Cut the underachieving 8 season flag collector thats declining and makes $6M in the first of his 3 yr deal. No Pat, youre, right, they should keep him and let him sit and bitch or better yet let him play teams for $6M. Talk about cancer? You’d turn him into a locker room cancer. You don’t spend $6M on a “body” because he has talent over another “body” that can fill the same spot for $200k. In this case,Routt would simply be a “body” if youre asking them to just stash him on the roster. I’m sure KC knows if they planned on bringing Routt back nxt season, apparently not. Next man up for evaluation. So now KC won’t win DIV bcuz they cut Routt? Season is way over and its phase 2,player evaluation.

          • SlickGoldie

You couldn’t be missing the point more if you tried. Player evaluation BY WHOM???? The same guy who SINGED HIM TO AN $18MM DEAL NOT 6 months ago???
Rout was nothing different then he has been his entire career as you pointed out yet you know back this management move after they JUST BROUGHT HIM IN 8 GAMES AGO??
No wonder KC sticks it to their fans so bad when this is the brasinwashed kool-aid mentality.

          • Danny W

I could get behind this statement if you were talking about Glenn Dorsey whose in a contract year or Tyson Jackson who is due to make 14 million next year. Because we added a D lineman in his place not a cornerback. It’s like robbing Peter to pay Paul with this move.

        • Danny W

I have to disagree. Whose gonna play outside? Did either of you watch Brown get abused playing for Flowers? This move is hyper dumb.

      • http://www.facebook.com/corey.evans.33 Corey Evans

Look we all thought it was the best compensatory acquisition IF in fact Carr was gonna walk. Well as expected he actually ran towards his payday in Dallas. Routt comes in and turns out to be the biggest liability on our starting defense. Very hypothetically speaking here, if he had this same production, or lack thereof, but we had say two more wins, THEN i’d say what kind of an excessive shake-up are we doing here?! It’s the season that is lost. Not the cause. Giving Travis Daniels the axe is not going to wake anybody up. Telling Jalil Brown to get his resume updated doesn’t have the shock value that his teammates and hell even the fans need. Although granted Brown has won himself a roster spot for several years solely on special teams play. Don’t believe me look at Terrance Copper. So talent wise sure, I suppose you could keep Routt in favor of some others on the team. But when we all expect or even understand we may lose the rest of our games, nothing, should catch us off guard anymore.

    • Norman Gunn

Donald Washington was on the team longer than Routt!

      • http://www.facebook.com/corey.evans.33 Corey Evans

Is that point made to make point of Pioli’s ineptness? Because as far as this entire cornerback dilemma I couldn’t agree further. lol

  • Lyle Graversen

Look, I agree that Routt was our 2nd most talented CB, but I think we can all agree that our troubles this year has been more about the talent not performing. Maybe Routt had an attitude, maybe he was giving horrible effort. Clearly something was up beyond just his poor play and they are trying to send a message. On a team that has clearly been short on accountability I’m just glad they did something.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Come on Lyle, you are smarter than that. There has not been a single bad report about Routt his season. Not one.

      • KCMikeG

I heard someone said the last thing we need is another rout and he misunderstood and attacked one of his teammates. Just kidding, love the speculation though.
I agree Paddy – we have no knowledge of any wrong doing by Routt. This is just another step down the slippery slope into insanity. This is like “Groundhog Day”. Routt is tied with Flowers with 2 int’s and has far better stats than Carr in Dallas. Yes he has gotten burned and had a few penalties but unless something drastic happened )see my example above) then cutting him is a horrible decision as we don’t have anyone better.
I guess it could be the official sign of submission from the organization and if so then Lyle’s point of getting playing time for Brown, Hartman & Thorpe (practice squad) makes some sense but what you said makes much more sense. We have much worse players than Routt.
Besides making room for Perv should have been made by putting Dorsey on IR. That has to be why we brought Perv back. I see him at DE not NT unless Powe or Toribio (is he still hurt?) are going to make the move. Smith brought some attitude and character to the team. We certainly need the attitude but not sure the character is what we need ( a guy with a rep for grabbing other guys junk) in our already dysfunctional family.
I believe the move to Gibbs is better than RAC but is still too little too late. Plus he was unsuccessful as DC in NO and was supposedly already kind of sort of running the defense wasn’t he?

      • Lyle Graversen

Look the Chiefs are a joke, I admit it. A complete dumpster fire. However, I still find it hard to believe that Pioli would cut someone he signed just a few months ago because he wasn’t quite as good as they hoped. There have been some in the media saying they are hearing from players that Routt never bought into Romeo’s system and he was spending too much time on him in practice. That could be total BS, but how do we know? Pioli’s track record is to ignore his failed signings not cut them prematurely. To me that says this was about more than play on the field. Am I speculating? Sure, but so is everyone else that isn’t in practice every day. Danny Parkins of 610 is speculating that these are Romeo moves (cut Routt, sign Smith) that Pioli had been blocking but that Clark has now overridden, meaning Pioli is on his way out. I have no idea what the truth is. Despite how bad this team is this season the homer in me still thinks there has to be more to this than face value of cutting a guy who is far from the worst player on the team simply because he was struggling a little.

        • Chiefswatch

Or you could just chalk it up to another stupid move by arguably the most inept organization in the history of the NFL. Lets go through a quick list of similar cuts: Pioli nearly cut Jamaal Charles. Pioli Cut Bernard Pollard in favor of one of the shittiest Safeties I have ever seen in Mike Brown. Cut Jared Gaither (who got a starting LT job in San Diego) and left Barry Richardson on our team. Let Shaun Smith walk in favor of nothing on the roster we were sure of (only to let him back on the team). Let Orton go thinking we would not need him….just idiots.

        • Danny W

What about cutting Jared Gaither when we have Barry Richardson as a right tackle? I think that equivocates this move.

    • Chiefswatch

      Serious man?

  • Priest4Prez

So, let me get this right people…we don’t offer Carr a spec of dust as far as a contract and let him walk. Ok. We then sign Routt as his replacement. Ok. Fast forward to now, we release HIM and don’t as much as get a pick for the guy? Nothing. No. Nope. Nada. I think they’re spitting in our faces, ” You think you hate what we’re doing before, look what else we can do to your precious team!” Who is his replacement exactly? Travis Daniels? Javier Arenas? No. Nope. Nada. I don’t think so. You wonder if they’re half stupid or just totally brain dead. WE SEE RIGHT THROUGH YOU! YOU ARE NOT FOOLING US! FIRING OUR PLAYERS WILL NOT GET US BACKING YOU! GO HOME, LEARN A HYBRID 3-4 DEFENSE; IT ISN’T 2001 AND THE PATRIOTS DEFENSE! YOUR OUTDATED!……..disgusting

    • Danny W

      Nice rant, I agree.

  • Dankkc

Honstly why not let the young guys play, the season is over!!!!!!! Im sure Routt was a cancer, and probably trying to create problems in a already stressful environment. All of these guys want to win, but they suck,!!!!! Its hard to follow, But I have been a die hard fan for 25yrs, I tried to quit last week but it only lasted two days,I love the team and always will.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

What have you ever heard to suggest Routt was a cancer? I’ve not heard a single, negative character thing about him. Be fair brother.

      • Dankkc

True, Im just guessing it wouldnt be for nothing, Im as shocked as anyone. Happy they are making changes, I miss Carr:(

      • Cha-iefs

I agree. I’ve heard NOTHING about him being a cancer. It is kind of ironic about that tweet that came out though. MAybe Cory Seamster read into that as directed towards Routt? ITS From another DB so who knows what he meant by the tweet.

  • Dankkc

Chiefs start next mon., 8 straight to finish 9-7, lol I wish. Hard to even play Madden with this team, lol funny how nice that first drive was last week until…….that damn twenty yardline

  • RichardComstock

Okay so a few hours have passed, I’m done freaking out and had a while to cool down. Now that I have a clear head and i realized how bad route actually was, i feel much better. I like everyone else wish we still had Carr, however that milk has already been spilled. Route is not a starter. He got burned over and over and only was good for running the WR out of bounds or holding their jersey( repeatedly getting caught) I really think Jaiver can become a stud. He has good instincts, is very quick and will be a BIG upgrade when it comes to run support. Have you ever seen Route make a good tackle in the back field…ever? The thing that worries me is Romeo not controlling the D anymore. I want him to control the D and just not be our head coach anymore. I don’t think he will be the best fit for Geno smith or Whomever we get at QB next year. we really need a new GM to come in and get us a real Coach, offensive coordinator and QB not just the 2008 Browns.I mean seriously what would make anyone believe that taking the 2008 Browns parts and mixing 2011 Chiefs players would make anything but a disaster. I hate going to work avoiding any nfl conversation..its unnatural. END RANT!

    • Cha-iefs

You hit the nail on the head about ” having a clear head”. The outrage doesn’t deserve merit. It’s just people freaking out and a excuse for some to pile onto Piss’oli. I’m not sticking up fo him but this move is more than okay! Routt was here for one reason….to replace Carr….he CLEARLY didn’t work out. He’s awful. He’s not a nickle or a STs guy for his contract

      • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Again, there is no reason to cut a talented player. Also, saying he CLEARLY didn’t work out is shortsighted. He has been in Crennel’s system for all of eight games.

You know who also isn’t playing well? Eric Berry.

Should the Chiefs cit him too? Is he CLEARLY not working out?

        • Danny W

Good points Patrick, I would say he pissed Crennel off so he cut him. Your going to try and tell me he isn’t better than Jalil Brown and Arenas. Thats stupid.

          • Cha-iefs

Lets hold the ass kissing to a minimum. Post a comment on the sitch. Rich made some good points.
Dan, Saying Routt made RAC mad is 110% gossip on your part, right? Lets not just assume stuff. Its safe to dig on history for the facts but don’t try to guess man. You’re better than that.

          • Danny W

I gave a guy props on his points so in other words I second them. Do I need to rewrite them? I don’t think that’s kissing any ass Sir. I agreed with the guy. I bust his balls on stuff all the time. Obviously it was speculation on my part, what else do we have? Most of this stuff is guess work there facts guy, it’s fun to speculate. Why he cut lose Routt is an anomaly I would like to take a guess at. You should be better than to take a poke at me with the whole ass kissing thing Cha….

          • KCMikeG

Yeah I missed the whole ass kissing thing?? Guess we will have to file this one under the WTF folder like Richardson/Gaither. Unless we saved a butt load of money by cutting him now it doesn’t make any sense. Maybe he had a huge bonus that kicked in if he picked off three or more passes?? Unless of course Routt did something crazy (Haley like) to bring it on himself. Who knows maybe he is a quitter – he was a fairer after all.

          • Danny W

It’s weird Mike, I mean why cut a corner back when were seemingly a little weaker there when we have Dorsey who needs a contract and Jackson is about to make 14 million next year. We added a D lineman not another cornerback. This move is a head scratcher so all were left to do is kiss ass and speculate I guess.

        • RichardComstock

are you saying you think there is a reason to keep a player that you will cut next year? We need to start over NOW and he was gone next year either way. I really think Javier will be better then Stanford. Eric Berry is a horrible example. He HAS shown the ability to be a superstar and is just having a rough time coming back from injury. He will be back. If EVERYONE of us knows Berry cant cover gates one on one why doesn’t our coaching staff? I cant blame him for being asked to do something he cant do. If they used him better he would produce better. Routt on the other hand was cut buy the raiders (HINT HINT) and had a penalty problem. He showed that he is exactly what the raiders thought he was. I don’t understand how you don’t see the reason to not cut him. Think about it. DId you feel safe with Routt in coverage..honestly? If you say no you didn’t I think you agree we should make the move asap right? Lets at least see what we have in Jaiver. Has he ever has the chance to be a number two corner? He is feisty and tenacious, two of the things our secondary is lacking in general. Our season is over man lets clean house..If this had been Cassle would you be upset? He is clearly better then Quinn.

        • Cha-iefs

Com’on Pat, youre just emotional. horrible example. How many years was Routt a bust in Oak? Been in the NFL for 8 season, since ’05. Dudes not a draft pick that needs “developed”. He was a emergency spot start for Carr that was CLEARLY not gonna get the money he wanted or the tag. Trial & error. thats the NFL way, Routt busted, 21 tckls from letting guys catch the ball. 2 ints dropped in his lap. Didnt defend the pass with his feet. This from a “speedy guy”?? He wasnt coming up to hit any RBs either thats for sure. He could hardly tackle your grandmama, KC moving on now from a $6M underachieving flag collector. Just part of the witch hunt on Piss’oli. As far as Berry….Berry has been in the NFL for basically 1 season! coming off a injury! What are you talking about? Emotional much?

Eric Berry is also RACs awful experiment! He’s trying to turn him into a Palumalu. He’s not Troy! Let him sit back in his SS spot like his rookie season. He flew up and smashed RBs, made plays. Also made some nice plays ball hawking in zone. Exciting INT returns. He takes good angles but doesn’t have the hips to play “this weird hybrid “SS/LB/CB”. He does his best exploding to the ball like a rocket and blowing someone up. KC needs physical players. I like a SS that is a big hitter. Berry isn’t going to create any car wrecks sitting 3 yards off the line or chasing someone man to man either.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ray.crabtree.98 Ray Crabtree

Nothing much going on here honestly. Just removing one bad player to insert another. Looks like we get to see more of Jalil Brown or Javier Arenas…

    • Danny W

I’ve seen that they both suck compared to Stanford Routt…….

  • Brandon Mecham

How about we get rid of Winston too. How many yards has he given up on penalties and missed blocks?

  • Chiefswatch

I would like to get mad about the absurdity of this but I simply can not any longer. Nope I just laugh at how fucking stupid this all is. I mean really? This guy was supposed to be the reason we were able to let Carr walk……what a fucking joke of an organization. A complete joke. Fuck em all. I am done. Done being a Chiefs fan.

    • Danny W

Oh come on man don’t leave the train wreck yet. Its just now getting even funnier.

    • Chief Hokie

Yea normally I’d be ticked by this move but at this point I just no longer give a shit.

    • Matt Finucane

all you can do is laugh when things get like this. A lesson I learned well during the Gunther years. You just laugh at them and wait for them to be fired.

  • Danny W

This is kind of like getting rid of Jared Gaither when we have Barry Richardson playing right tackle. It’s just one dumb personnel move after another. Glenn Dorsey is in a contract year, and Tyson Jackson is due to make 14 million next year and we cut loose our number two corner who is more talented than Brown, Arenas, Menzie, and Daniels. We couldn’t get rid of one of the LSU bums who are getting outplayed by Pitoatua. How stupid!!!!

  • Chief Hokie

Glad to see everyone has come to understand how terrible of a move it was to let Carr go. Remember when we first got Routt and we thought his speed could actually improve our defense in the cover 2.., haha wow.

The only thing that could save this team at this point would be to lock up Bowe and Albert to long term contracts, draft Barkley or Geno (assuming one of them pans out), draft a shit ton of lineman, and pick up the best CB and WR we can find in FA.

Cutting Route was a sad exercise in desperation for a team in the death throws of a disastrous season. Crennel has entered an “all or nothing” mentality akin to what we’ve seen from Raiders coaches over the last decade when desperate and extreme roster moves were made inexplicably.

Route hadn’t been very good, but he was far from the teams worst DB.

Given another season to continue developing in this system, it’s clear he could be a “decent” to “good” #3 CB for this team. Cutting him hurts what’s in the longterm best interest of this organizations roster.

If we didn’t have a reason for firing Scott Pioli mid season, then we do now. A new GM could come in and put an abrupt end to anymore desperate acts like this one which only hurt this team next year once these clowns at the top are gone.

Just another step towards 1-16, and a #1 overall draft pick. Really too bad they won in New Orleans, they could of achieved perfect futility.

So does this mean Javier Arenas is a starter? Yikes, that is trouble. I guess his awful play will be more evidence in the final tally. PFF says QBs are rated like 137 when throwing at Arenas. Get that guy more reps, I like his moxie!
Weird move here. More to come, maybe.

I remember when Mark McMillan was a corner back for us and got like ten picks one year. We called the dude mighty mouse. Sadly Arenas doesn’t look anything like that. But hey we still have Dorsey and Jackson!!

why are the chiefs stupid? some1 give me a reasonable explanation to this.

Okay heres what happened. Jim Bob Cooter ate Romeo’s dinner and his dessert one day at lunch, and we all know how Romeo loves his food. Routt pissed off Cooter last week and when Crennel got steaming hot about his lunch getting raided Cooter told Crennel that Routt did it. That was all Romeo needed to hear. He was cut the next day for Perv Smith. The irony in all this is, Perv doesn’t care whose lunch it is he will snake it at the drop of a hat. So in short there is your explanation man. Sad but true.
