Chiefs Lose To Raiders 26-16

The Kansas City Chiefs continued their “Fan Embarrassment Tour” today when they lost to Oakland Raiders at Arrowhead for the sixth straight time.

It was yet another comedy of errors that can’t help but leave you wondering when Clark Hunt is going to pull the curtain closed on GM Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel.

Earlier this week, Crennel named backup QB Brady Quinn the new starter over incumbent Matt Cassel. The Quinn era lasted all of a quarter. Quinn left the game early with a head injury, though he did make sure to throw an interception first. He finished the day two of four for one yard and an interception.

Matt Cassel played slightly better, though he was under pressure on almost every drop-back.

There isn’t much to say at this point that hasn’t already been said. The Chiefs are 1-6. The coaches are terrible. The players are terrible. The GM hasn’t done a good enough job.

The sooner Clark Hunt blows this thing up and hires a new GM, the sooner the new guy can start trying to fix this mess and more importantly, start scouting for what should be a very important draft.

With the first pick in the 2013 nfl draft the Kansas City Chiefs select?

    • Tribal Rage

      Some overrated Defensive lineman…again

      • Jonathan Aldridge

        Yaay!! lol

      • sidibeke

Doesn’t need to be overrated. Pioli likes to reach for his DLs.

      • calciomoti

        from LSU…

  • Tribal Rage

I remember dark days but never like this. A team with so much “talent”, picked to win the division, super bowl contender by so many has not held a lead in 7 games. Futility…even those dark years with Herm the team had pride. Im sick about the fact that my compulsion will force me to watch the next 2 nationally televised games but since Im not a local…thats it. No more sports bars, no more computer streams…no more Chiefs radio. For the 1st time in over 20 years…I am not a fan. I lost my love, my passion, my pride…because they haven’t showed any since week 1. What this organization has done to a great city and this great fan base is truly unforgivable. Stop buying tickets, concessions, gear and most importantly the bullshit that this organization cares. Move the team, go to fucking London, Toronto, Los Angeles, who gives a fuck…take your shit coaches, heartless team and pathetic management with you. Leave the name and the colors behind. Start over in 4 years…I’ll wait…I rather have no football than anymore of this. Until the house is clean…your dead to me….

    • Danny W

I’d say your the voice of most fans right now. I actually turned the game off today. I just left. It’s stupid.

      • KCMikeG

Come on guys. You’re backing up and running over my Chiefs heart the team has already flattened…. Please don’t give up. It has been horrible before and will be again. The good ties in between are closer than it looks right now.

  • sidibeke

Depressing. This is such a horribly coached team. The only thing we have to look forward to is a firing.

    • Tribal Rage

not if its only the coaches being fired…it starts with the GM, then HC/DC, then OC, then ST coach, then QB….that will never happen…not this year anyway

      • calciomoti

i say start with the oc…I know I was not the only one who saw him laughing about on the sideline with a minute left…wtf was funny about anything that happened today? Then move on to our sorry ass GM…this is not new England we no longer care about your version of the patriot way, nor do we give a shit about the right 53, pack your bags and fucking leave kc, never return and dont tell us you care…then the hc, really no emotion? Get fucking pissed about something, if you had 1/10th of the heart Rudy has you’d be multiple super bowl winning team, but your not because you don’t care…get the fuck outta kc too.

        • KcNdaRock

Chief fans r passionate.. I miss Haley he had passion fuck Romeo.. We’re not pats of the west were fucking Cleveland

          • KCMikeG

Truer words my friend. I commented along those lines just recently too. Everyone has been whining and screaming about the NE way when all the while we were being turned into the Brownies!! Lord help us ALL….

      • sidibeke

Of course, you have to fire the schmuck who put these coaches in place (read GM).

  • http://www.facebook.com/ruthdp Daniel Ruth

Worst then the 0-16 Lions, at least they played with heart!

  • BurtGummer44

The worst team in Franchise history………………and there have been a lot of bad teams.

  • tm1946

This game is over and I hope the sun will come up tomorrow. The Chiefs set a record of never having a lead in 7 games, a record it is reported that dates from 1940. I cannot say for sure, I do not know anyone that old to correct me.
I respectfully ask all posters to man up…..
Were you one of the poster who said Routt was good enough or better than Carr or Carr was not worth the money (the same money Pioli banked for Hunt)?
Come on and be a man….just go to “reply” and post it. I got heat over saying Routt was not a decent replacement, so where are you guys?

    • KCMikeG

I’m right here and while I am finding myself agreeing with you more recently but have maintain my disagreement on Carr vs Routt & will support it with the facts. Routt leads Carr in Tackles 21-19, INT’s 2 w/ 49 return yards vs Zero for Carr. Routt has a FF & Carr doesn’t. Routt has one more PD 4-3. Yes Routt has been burned but so has Carr. Routt is tied with Flowers for picks and his one today on the 1st play of the game setting us up at midfield should have been the kick start we needed to win at home. Instead Quinn pissed it away before being sacrificed by our OL FULFILLING THEIR WEEKLY QB SACRIFICE QUOTA!! Point is that Routt actually is performing better than Carr, he is on a one year contract vs underperforming on a brand new multi year obligation and we are paying Routt $20M less!

  • Matt Finucane

Come on gang, everyone knows a GM needs 10 years to turn a franchise around. Thats what Dayton Moore said about the Royals, and I’m applying it here. Pioli til 2018!
    I like “fan embarrassment tour”

    • KcNdaRock

So I get on AA at least twice a day I hardly post when I did it was under kcndaroc..ne ways blah blah .. Mike g stays a true fan from what I see and a few more.. Other than that no 1 has the passion and hope and hope in the red and gold as I do.. Yea they have a great roster they can’t perform out of shape it goes on and on penalties…Matt cassel is our best qb and if u can’t see that ur an idiot.. It’s a team game and the team looks to be in mini camp form.. Fire Scotty,Romeo,Dabol,Zorn except Emmet Thomas.. I wanna see gamers not game managers.. Get ready for another Todd blackledge if we don’t get Wilson out of Ar I also think we need to draft 2.. And we need a big nasty on the ol
      Go chiefs

    • sidibeke

We could fire Pioli and hire AJ Smith and then give him 10 years, too.

  • AKChieffan

Pioli, Pioli! When does Clarke Hunt say “Uncle”? Anymore need to be said? Hell yes, Crennel, Crennellllll!

  • Jonathan Aldridge

wow.. i really thought the chiefs would win this. turns out just to be another disappointing home-field humiliation. i really hope that there will be some coaching or gm or qb adjustments by tuesday cuz this is getting old. fire crennel, pioli, and cassel and hire someone with a will and a great passion to win. draft a qb worth our time. not a scrambler that will get hurt his first game, not someone that will turn it over 24/7, a solid qb of the future. so far the chiefs are poised to get either the 1st or 2nd overall pick, and the other team tied with us is the panthers, who have cam newton. the only good rookie qbs i see are geno smith, matt barkley, and e.j. manuel.

    • Tribal Rage

We missed the boat on QBs….Luck and RGIII were the only answers…can you tell me any of the QBs coming next year are definitively “The Guy”?

      • Taylor Bieberle

Thank you. There is absolutely no franchise quarterbacks out there at this point in time. At least none that i’m thrilled about. Geno smith? No, go watch k-state game. Barkley? Not anymore impressive. Who else is there really?? People say there is so much QB talent entering next yrs draft. I don’t buy it. You said it right tribal rage, we truly missed the boat and I think kansas city truly realizes that. There is no QB out there that will make an immediate impact as has RG3, Luck, or Manning. I honestly hope I’m completely wrong.

      • Jonathan Aldridge

Geno Smith is supposed to be the first qb drafted so well see

  • Travis Forsyth

for some reason i still love this team, i still believe in this team, but somethings still telling we will 1-15 and we will have the 1st overall pick the draft and we’ll draft geno smith. this is truly the worst chiefs team in franchise history… atleast the ’08 2-14 thigpen led chiefs led some games..this is rediculous!! we one the most “talented” rosters in the nfl and we can’t lead a game for two seconds!!! mark my words we will be 1 – 15, pioli, crennel, daboll, cassel, won’t be back……someone thought flying a banner saying “FIRE PIOLI – BENCH CASSEL” would do somthing but appearently not….maybe it would help we hit hunt right in the heart…sent the asshole a letter saying LAMAR WOULD BE VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ASHAMED OF YOU AND WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO THE FRANCHISE! little harsh but still….gulp..go chiefs..:(

    • Chris turner

Clark hunt’s a loser. His father would be disgusted.Clark is turning this team into the Kansas city Royals of the NFL. I wish he would sell the team to someone who knows what he hell he’s doing. My god at very least he should fire Scott Pioli right now.

Is anyone else sick and tired of all the negative records the Chiefs have accomplished over the years? Another one was set today I think with the whole “not leading in a game in 7 weeks” this is ridiculous!! I am tempted to go back and figure up the scores, I think Succop has scored about as much as the offense has all season! Thats sad! Enough is enough, Clark do something, stop the pain, or atleast show that you care! We fans have voiced our opinions and if this conintues then those of us that are speaking will just decide its not worth it anymore. Stop the bleeding! please, do something now!!

    • KCMikeG

Our seven weeks w/o a lead sets the record established in 1940! Our 18 point comeback one the Saints was a franchise record. If we can’t win any more games then maybe we could go for this record.

Not too many fans remember that the Rochester Jeffersons were members of the league from 1920 through 1925. And even some historians may not know that a Washington team, variously called the “Pros” or “Senators,” was in the league in 1921. Nevertheless, both those long gone elevens had league franchises on December 4, 1921. And when they didn’t play, there was a forfeit.

This could save us a lot of pain, suffering and humiliation while reaching another ancient record.

  • Danny W

Well we’re 1-6 and we’ve been a convincing one at that. Our 1-6 doesn’t look like the Panthers 1-6 (competitive). I commented on Stacy’s blog last week that this team has mailed it in and they did nothing but reaffirm that point today. Stick a fork in this group they have no leadership and they’re quitters.

    • Tribal Rage

Agreed…The Saints are playing their asses off and saying to themselves…we lost to those assholes?

  • Chris turner

How much more Clark? How much longer do we have to deal with Scott Pioli and his search for the right 53 man roster that he’s always talking about? How much longer do we have to keep the worst coaching staff in football? This team is bad it’s first pick in the draft bad we look nothing, and I mean nothing, like the New England Patriots Pioli was going to turn us into.We look like a team that couldn’t beat a Canadian league team.

  • dr. spaceman

Clark hunt should be on the phone with Bill cowher offering him what ever he wants and then some. we need to start over in all areas and we need someone that will not only bring a winning mentality but someone not associated in any way with the disaster that this franchise has become. maybe chip Kelly wants to try his hand at coaching in the pros, I think everyone in the chiefs nation are ready for a change, anything to breathe some life back into our be loved franchise.

    • Drewfish

we tried that with peyton manning….look how that turned out…no one wants to come to KC!!!

      • dr. spaceman

Peyton had his heart set on Denver as soon as Mr. Ed showed up on his door step with a bushel of carrots, that doesn’t mean that coming to kc is career suicide, we are not the dolphins quite yet, as bad as this year is going there is nothing to stop us from going out and getting a coach like cowher, hell I’d even be willing to entertain bringing back Marty ball. We are still a historic franchise only two years removed from winning our division, we’ve got a ton of young talent, most under contract for the next couple years. We just need a coach with the right direction and a gm that can fill the holes that are left on the team and we can be great again. Holmgren was doomed in Cleveland especially with the old ownership, atleast we’re a project with an up side.

I think the WRs are ok mostly and Bowe is still very good(they can’t seem to scheme to get him open more), we know JC is good, the O line is horrible, Ripati is showing up and Poe is getting better, the LBs are pretty decent for the most part.
Pioli was a fool to let Carr get away and I’m not sold he knows how to draft linemen, but his biggest failing is the QB position. The GM is suppose to find players for the coach, and the QB position has not been addressed. Mostly, I think the coaching staff lacks the ability to motivate the players.
This team is playing like it did in the 80s before Marty. BUT I think the skill position players are far better than back then, I just dont understand.
If I lived in KC, and a season ticket holder, I’d stay home and watch there, if I wasnt doing something else more rewarding. I think all the season ticket holders should stay home, and dont sell the tickets, make sure your seats are empty.
I just dont understand how it can be this bad.

  • Drewfish

What i dont understand is why when Quinn went out with injury, did they not just put in Stanzi…im not saying he’s our savior but he also cant be any worse then the other two….We will never know how good he really is unless you give him a chance to lead the team>>>>Pioli knows how to run a team, he has just made bad choices for head coach, and OCs…But As you can see with the Manning thing no one seems to want to come to KC…But i do miss Haley…at least he held the players responsible for there poor play….

    • Tribal Rage

Stanzi was inactive and in street clothes

  • ChiefsFanSince69

Hate to say it, but even a “franchise QB” couldn’t save this team right now, because it still lacks the most crucial element in a winner: D-I-S-C-I-P-L-I-N-E. Why do we lead the league in turnovers? Why do we commit so many stupid, incredibly costly penalties? Why do we blow so many coverages? Because these players have not had the fundamentals drilled into their brains: RULE #1: ALWAYS PROTECT THE FOOTBALL!!! If you turn it over repeatedly, you sit on the bench. Period. RULE #2: ONE PLAY AT A TIME — TOTAL FOCUS ON THE PLAY AT HAND. Marty turned the Chiefs around in the 90′s by forcing his players to be DISCIPLINED. (Geez — he actually hired refs to be on hand at the PRACTICES to throw flags at the guys who were screwing up!) Those teams almost always won close games — with a lot of medicore QBs, too — because they were disciplined and kept their cool in tight situations. At SD, Marty kept benching a young Drew Brees for too many turnovers, bad mistakes and risky throws. Brees didn’t like it, but he got the message: PLAY SMART — BE DISCIPLINED Today, he credits Schottenheimer with making him the amazing QB he turned out to be.

Moral of the story: 1) Hire a new GM who knows how to find talent — especially QB talent; 2) Hire a coach who knows how to motivate & DISCIPLINE his team. The rest of the pieces are already in place — or soon will be.

    • KCMikeG

I agree with your rule #2 – the Focus plus I would add leadership, discipline and motivation we are lacking. The 2nd part of rule #1 isn’t happening other than Cassel’s benching. It is the coaching that controls what happens on the field and who is on it. That’s why I still say so many can’t be wrong about the talent we have which makes me put Pioli last on my list of changes. Yes he brought the coaches in and he will be held accountable for that ultimately but our need is immediate and that is with the coaches and the players. RAC needs to be gone now. i would add Daboll too (laughing on the sideline with 1:15 to go in the game today – really? what could possibly be funny?) if Hunt could get Cowher here right now. Arenas, Breaston and Brown should all be inactive on Thursday as examples of what happens when you make game changing failures. Wait a minute….
I hate to say it but isn’t that what Haley was doing?? Punishing guys for showing up out of shape. Disciplining our “stars” by demoting them on the depth charts and benching them. And didn’t we lead the NFL in rushing and have a ProBowl year out of the “stars” and Cassel had his best year? Hmmm….

  • KCMikeG

As if today wasn’t bad enough on my 3 hours depressing drive home – thank God I had the wife & kid with me or who knows? accidents happen. Just kidding – kind of. I listened to Peyton surgically dissect the shitty NO defense, totally dominating them with 3 drives over 80 yards. He is making the donkey defense even better than they are. And we get to play them twice yet this year. But before we get too worried about that in 4 days we “get” to play on NATIONAL TV (there is a God as it is the equally shitty dolts who have gotten blown out after being up 24 and then lost today to the always shitty brownies). Then we “get” to travel to Pittsburgh and have Haley rub our nose in it, shove it down our throats and then dance on our grave in front of the ENTIRE NATIONAL AUDIENCE. Excuse me for a moment I’m about to puke up the rest of the shitty fast food I at one the drive home. I refused to give Clark my concession dollars and even that turns out bad for me.

So everyone is all “fire everyone” and I get the feeling. You all know I’m a Homer but part of being that type of optimistic fan is that you keep a lot of the bleeding on the inside. It is disgraceful to us to attack with vulgar names and openly hate something we love so much. That doesn’t make us blind to the reality and the pain. We just choose to focus on the accomplishments and the potential rather than get further depressed by wallowing in the failures. So in that spirit I will shake off my suicidal despair and ask this of you all. We are a bunch of Addicts – right? Addicted to Arrowhead and all things KC Chiefs – right? So instead of venting, attacking each other, calling for everyone to be fired and/or protest via a blackout (Which I still view as a disgrace to the history and an insult to the great players especially those that are still active with the team) WHY don’t we put forth our own solutions for fixing this epic failure we find ourselves addicted to? Let’s have a few ground rules. #1) Spare us all the vulgar name calling and rants on the failures. Remember we are trying to construct a plan to fix things moving forward not stomping on the pinata we have already beaten to pieces with the stick. Besides we have heard them all before and regurgitating them at this point will not benefit us or the team.
#2) It is not possible or logical to fire everyone right now. Come up with a logical progression of your firings and a time frame and who/what /how you would change to. Believe me it can get worse. I was at the “Monday Night Meltdown” on MNF when Marty totally lost control of the team he had created. So a team with NO GM, HC and staff is not going to be possible.
#3) try to be as comprehensive as possible, fact based suggestions get extra credit and try to keep them reasonable achievable. Candidates must be available and have reasonable expectations to be able to and desire to work together in the pits of Hell we call home.

I look forward to the ideas and hope many of you accept the challenge. We all love this team and want nothing more than to have Arrowhead be the loudest and most feared stadium again and the team returned to its honored position in NFL history. I would ask the writers here at AA to review our plans and provide deserved positive comments and constructive criticism. How about taking ideas from multiple plans and doing a “Frankenstein”solution with the best “bits and pieces” of our ideas in honor of Halloween. I know this is a “little” crazy but this is where my Homerism took me instead of sitting in the garage with the car running so please contribute. I thank you all….

I noticed today once we had yet another insurmountable deficit heading into the 4th, that I didn’t care that yet another loss to the Raiders at home was looming. Not because I didn’t care, but because my brain has now provided a defense mechanism from allowing this Chiefs team to inflict any more harm on me. We lost to our biggest rivalry of all time and I just chalked it up as another L in the L column. This troubles me immensely. I should always wanna crush Raider skulls after a loss and I just thought “Ah well. These are our 2012 Chiefs.” Please put on your big boy pants Clark and take proper action.

I heard an interesting thing this week end. Apparently there are four Hunt children who have been experiencing a great deal of in fighting among themselves, and have been since their dad pasted away. It has been escalating and appears to be getting worse. I will be doing some research to try and validate.

If not for our Offense our Defense would be pretty good.
