The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their preparation for the Buffalo Bills today but they will do so with star CB Brandon Flowers being limited in practice.

By now, you know the story. Flowers hurt his foot at the end of July and hasn’t practiced fully since. He missed the entire preseason but there was some hope when he was a limited participant in practice all last week leading up the the team’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. I figured the Chiefs were just being cautious with Flowers, however it appears things may be worse than we thought.

The Chiefs ended up getting embarrassed on defense by the Falcons. Flowers’ absence, along with the loss of OLB Tamba Hali to a one-game suspension, proved to be too much for KC to handle.

The fact that Flowers, given a few more days to rest, is still going to be limited in practice does not bode well for this weekend. Hali’s turn will help but if Flowers doesn’t play, will Tamba be able to get to the QB fast enough to help the porous KC secondary?
