The Kansas City Chiefs have released their official injury report for Thursday, ahead of their game this Sunday with the Atlanta Falcons.

Here is the damage:

Did Not Practice: Jovan Belcher, Anthony Toribio, Allen Bailey and Kendrick Lewis

Limited: Derrick Johnson, Brandon Flowers and Jalil Brown

Belcher is the new name added to the list here. He reportedly tweaked his groin.

I’m not sure where Belcher is at, but I would be shocked if DJ and Flowers don’t play Sunday. My guess is that the Chiefs are limiting them in practice so they can give them as much rest as possible until game day. These are both veteran players who are very familiar with Romeo Crennel’s defense. They’ll know what to do once they get on the field.

The worry here is further injury. As much as we’d all like to have these guys out on the field on Sunday, one game, even if it is a win, isn’t worth losing DJ or Flowers for the entire season. The Chiefs also don’t want lingering injuries that are going to limit their effectiveness.

My hunch is that the Chiefs are just being extra cautious with their star players, as they should be. I’d wager Toribio, Bailey and Lewis will be out. DJ, Belcher and Flowers will be questionable.

The injuries on the defensive side of the ball are mounting. Are you nervous, Addicts?
