According to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star, CB Brandon Flowers lined up with the starters Wednesday at the start of practice.

This is an excellent sign for those worried that Flowers, who missed the entire month of August with a heel injury, might not be ready to go this weekend.

Teicher, God bless him, shows up every day to watch the 10 minutes of practice the media are allowed to observe. He reported via Twitter that Flowers looked good and he also mentioned that banged up MLB Derrick Johnson also looks as if he will be able to play.

I am sure a lot of you are wondering how effective Flowers will be after missing a month of practice and all of the preseason.

I’ll tell you.

He’ll be a hell of a lot more effective than Jalil Brown would be if he had to start at CB opposite Stanford Routt.

Look, Flowers will be fine. He knows Crennel’s defense and he will have been on the field for every practice in preparation for the Falcons. Sure, he missed some time but he went through the entire offseason program so it isn’t like he will be playing his first football since last season.

I am guessing the Chiefs were extra cautious with Flowers. He is too important to rush back from an injury in the preseason. Thankfully, the preseason is over and Flowers is ready to go.

Defense, especially CB, is all about reacting to what the offense is doing. This isn’t Brandon’s first trip to the rodeo. I think he’ll be fine.

And when Roddy White or Julio Jones lines up across from him, he’ll have to be.
