LaDainian Tomlinson To Sign With Chargers, Retire

LaDainian Tomlinson plans to sign a one-day contract with San Diego so that he can retire a Charger, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Tomlinson didn’t leave the Chargers on the best of terms so it is somewhat surprising that he is returning. Then again, I think most of his issues had more to do with San Diego GM A.J. Smith than with the team/fans. LT had his best years with the Dolts so I can see why he’d want to retire a Charger.

While this isn’t Chiefs news, I think it is always good to pass along AFC West news, like when a Raider gets arrested or a former foe hangs them up. I have fond memories of the days when I’d be debating folks in my fantasy football league about whether Priest Holmes or LT was the best running back in the NFL. For the record, I think if Priest could have stayed healthy, it would have been him hands down.

But Tomlinson was more durable and had a heck of a career. Congrats to him on that and I’m very happy to see him go.
