Martin Rucker To IR, Roster Spot Opens Up

We told you a few days ago that TE Martin Rucker could be heading to IR with a torn ACL.

Now it’s official.

Rucker was waiting to get a second opinion and it appears that opinion was that he needs surgery. Josh Looney of has announced that Rucker will be moved to IR. That means the Chiefs now are back down to 89 players and are free to add one more to their roster to reach the limit of 90.

I wonder if the Chiefs will add a player or not. They are at the tail end of their mandatory three-day mini-camp. Once camp ends, they won’t be able to practice until training camp. Brining in a new player now wouldn’t give them much, if any time for evaluation. If Dwayne Bowe does indeed report to camp on time the Chiefs would have to clear a roster spot for him so anyone they might add could be cut in a couple of weeks anyway.

What do you think Addicts? Will the Chiefs add another player?
