Martin Rucker Likely Chiefs’ Latest ACL Victim

The Kansas City Chiefs’ ACL curse continues.

This time it is St. Joseph native and former Missou star TE Martin Rucker.

According to Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com, Rucker hurt his knee in goal line work at OTA practices last Friday. It looks as though he needs ACL surgery but he is in the process of seeking a second opinion.

“He’s going to get a second opinion on it and then he’s going to make a decision about what he wants to do, but it doesn’t look good overall.” Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel Thursday.

Rucker got a contract offer from the Chiefs after trying out during the team’s rookie mini-camp. While he had an uphill battle to make a roster already featuring Tony Moeaki and Kevin Boss, Rucker might have caught on with the practice squad or even another team. Now, it looks like he’ll be heading to IR.

Let’s hope this is the last time we here “ACL” and “Chiefs player” this season.
