Is A Potential “Peyton Manning” Situation Involving Drew Brees Possible For 2014?

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Players Association interprets a clause in the CBA that could create an interesting scenario in 2014.

If Brees is willing to gamble $16 million plus, and sits out  all of 2013,  the Saints would not be able to use the franchise tag on him in 2014.

The Chiefs are being mentioned as one of the teams capable of the huge amounts of salary money this would take if such a scenario (be it unlikely for sure) should occur, and Brees would become available.

I, for one, am doubtful that Drew would give up a year of prime NFL play at his age.

Plus the bounty the Saints would put on him would be murderous.

Still it’s an interesting situation to ponder. Stay tuned….
