KC Chiefs Held Private Workout For TE James Hanna

The Kansas City Chiefs held a private workout for TE prospect James Hanna out of the University of Oaklahoma, according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com.

Hanna stands at 6’4″, 252 lbs., and while his college numbers aren’t eye-popping (50 receptions for 702 yards and nine touchdowns), his Combine performance has garnered him some extra attention. The big man ran a 40-yard dash in 4.49 and added a 36 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 10’2″ broad jump, a 4.11 in the 20-yard shuttle and a 6.76 in the three-cone drill. He benched 225 pounds 24 times.

The NFL is a copycat league and after what the New England Patriots were able to do with their multiple TE sets last season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Chiefs and other teams adding athletic, pass-catching TEs. Despite singing free agent Kevin Boss while also expecting the return of Tony Moeaki, the Chiefs have shown interest in a number of TEs this offseason.

As of now, NFL Draft Scout projects Hanna to go somewhere in the sixth or seventh round and they rank him as the 12th best player at his position in the draft.

With tight ends suddenly becoming more and more valuable, I could see the Chiefs snagging a guy like Hanna as early as the fifth round. KC is admittedly in a position to draft the best player available so if the team wants some extra insurance for Moeaki and Boss they might just make a move for this guy.

What do you think, Addicts? Will the Chiefs and new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll be running a lot of multiple TE sets in 2012?
