A.J. Jenkins To Visit Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs will visit with Illinois WR A.J. Jenkins, according to The Florida Times Union.

At 6-0, 190, Jenkins is a slot receiver type.

And he’s fast.

Jenkins ran a blazing 4.39 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. He is currently projected to go somewhere around the fifth-round according to NFL Draft Scout.

Speed receiver is one of the positions Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel mentioned recently when talking about potential positions the team could target in the upcoming draft.

"“You can never have enough speed on your team, enough pass rushers on your team. We’re always looking for corners, we’re always looking for pass rushers, we’re always looking for speed receivers. If you can pick up some help in any of those areas, you’ve helped your team.”"

The Chiefs are in fairly good shape at receiver but they don’t have a ton of depth. Adding a speedy guy like Jenkins with a fifth-round pick could help add that depth.

I imagine we’ll see the Chiefs looking at a number of speedy receivers, QBs and pass rushers as they try to use this draft to really round out their roster.
