Jovan Belcher Signs Tender

Kansas City Chiefs starting ILB Jovan Belcher has signed his restricted free agent tender.

The one-year deal will pay Belcher, a former undrafted free agent, $1.927 million.

The Chiefs have gotten quite a bargain with Belcher, who has cost them next to nothing and has started for two years straight. The team may wish to upgrade at the position this season and Brandon Siler could push Belcher for starting time. The team will have both Siler and Belcher on one-year contracts so it may be that the winner is retained while the other hits free agency. But that is a year away. Right now, it is good to know Belcher is locked up for 2012.
