Peyton Manning Worked Out For 49ers

Just when it looked like the Denver Broncos were sure to land Peyton Manning, a new team got in on the action.

ESPN’s Chris Mortenson is reporting that Manning has worked out for the 49ers. He has also taken a physical.

This news is a huge blow to the Broncos. The 49ers are clearly the best team to have entered the race for Manning. San Fran has a very good defense and some young pieces on offense that could be attractive to Manning. They also recently signed free agent Randy Moss.

This comes as a bit of a surprise because it was believed that the 49ers were committed to QB Alex Smith.

For KC fans, Manning ending up anywhere but Denver would be a relief. The other question that comes to mind is that if Manning worked out for the 49ers, a team nobody knew was interested, did he work out for anyone else?
