Free agent NT Paul Soliai is apparently set to visit the Denver
Donkeys Broncos, according to NFL Network.
I’ve always hated the Broncos more than the Raiders. I grew up during the Elway era and boy do I hate that guy. I hate that he now is running the Broncos. I hate that he got Peyton Manning to visit the Donks and not the Chiefs. I now hate that he got Soliai in for a visit before the Chiefs. I also hate that after all of these years, nobody has kicked him in the teeth.
Bitter? Yes. But it is warranted.
There have been reports that the Chiefs are interested in Soliai and they should be. Still, I think they may be planning to spend most of their money on the tackle and RB positions. There is strong evidence in that theory as KC has a tackle and two RBs scheduled for visits. To get a guy on a plane, the Chiefs have to at least be flashing a decent offer. To get a guy on a plane to see them first, it is probably a very good offer. It appears as though both Mike Tolbert and Peyton Hillis are visiting KC first.
As for Soliai, the Chiefs just may not be willing to invest a lot of money in the NT position. KC has a ton of money invested in their defense with players like Brandon Flowers, Derrick Johnson, Eric Berry and Tamba Hali. To top it all off, Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson are two of the highest-paid players on the team. To land Soliai, the Chiefs will be dumping even more money into their already expensive defensive line.
The Chiefs could still make a strong play for Soliai but it may be that they think there are options at NT in the draft. They’ve re-signed Amon Gordon and drafted Powe last year so they really only need one more body.
Whether that body belongs to Paul Soliai, however, might depend on how his visit with “Old Horse Teeth” goes.
I hate Denver. Did I mention that?
