Chiefs QB Situation: Manning Or RGIII

facebooktwitterreddit

There have been all kinds of rumors swirling about potential 2012 QB options for the Kansas City Chiefs this week. We’ve heard Peyton Manning, RGII and even Kyle Orton tossed around.

I think most Chiefs fans realize that the likelihood of either Manning or RGIII actually landing in KC are pretty long. Nobody really knows what is going to happen with Manning and unless they are prepared to make an aggressive move in the draft, the Chiefs aren’t likely to have a realistic shot at RGIII.

But these kinds of rumors and speculations are what make the long offseason fun. So on a lazy Saturday afternoon on the last weekend in February, I thought it might be kind of fun to have a little poll.

The speculation this week was that the Chiefs could be interested in pursing Manning and then on Friday, the fact that the Chiefs were meeting with RGIII led some to believe the team has to at least be considering acquiring him.

In any scenario other than my wildest dreams, there is no way both Manning and Griffin will end up in KC. So if you had the choice between the two, who would you pick?

It is an interesting question. Both players come with question marks. Manning, at the top of his game, is one of the best QBs ever. Griffin is a prospect and while many consider him to be a very good prospect, we all know there are no guarantees in the NFL Draft. At the same time, Griffin offers perhaps a decade of winning where Manning offers, at best, three years.

Who is the bigger risk? An aging, possibly injured Manning? Or an expensive (draft pick-wise) blue chip prospect in in Griffin?
