Now that the Super Bowl is just over a week away, I thought it was time to update my 2012 NFL Mock Draft. We know the basic order now, save for a few coin flips. I’ll do no trading in this mock so I’ll just let the players fall where they may.

Last time around, the Chiefs took RB Trent Richardson out of Alabama. Who will they take this time? See below to find out. Also, if you are looking for more mocks, be sure to check out DC Pro Sports Report, the home of the original Mock Draft Database!

I say Richardson Reiff decastro or Martin if they arnt on the board trade down a few times and compile picks

Can you say "TRENT RICHARDSON"?

Why would TAMPA BAY draft a QB? They've got Josh Freeman!! Could 1 of them be available. Either one of those guys would be better than the piles of crap the CHIEFS have now!!

@zippy74 Ummm.....what?

What exactly is your question?

@zippy74 You're going off about TB taking a QB when he has them taking a WR.

Sure. Why not? Don't get a running back or QB!! I've said b4 AND I will say it again...the CHIEFS will continue to SUCK as long as CRAPOLI is GM!! I hope he does something to prove me wrong...but I don't see it happening!!

Paddy, While I don't mind the DeCastro pick at all, I do have some issues with the mock overall. IMO, Richardson and Coples are too low. Richardson is a special player and someone will snatch him up no later then the 10-12 range. Coples is probably the best pass rusher in the draft and someone will jump on him in the top 10. Alfonso Dennard is WAY too high. At best he's a late first rounder and word from the Senior Bowl is some scouts think he may even have to play safety in the NFL based on how poor he's looked at times. And unless I'm blind, I believe you left Devon Still out of the first round all together.

Oh and nice way of saying that you think New England is going to beat the Giants in a couple of weeks!!! LOL!

Has anyone considered that maybe New England trades with us to move up into our slot to get Trent Richardson? Can you imagine them with their offense having an actual running game again??? YIKES!!!!

@MichaelShaw They have 2 first round picks!

Plus we could get their #27 and #31 or 32.

@MichaelShaw We're thinking alike on this one

We have a lot of options. If we do draft DeCastro there is no need to switch him to tackle when we can pick up an excellent, start immediately, big upgrade at RT in the second round. Sanders is a great call. If we're lucky enough to have Mike Adams still available when we pick in the 2nd, that would be a great pick as well. I'd rather see DeCastro stay at guard and be a perennial pro bowler at that position. With DeCastro and Asamoah at guard and Hudson at center we would be able to actually do some serious pushing and get a yard when we needed it.

@calchiefsfan sounds perfect to me!!!!!

@calchiefsfan Mike adams will be off the board before the 2nd round if not i will be very shocked but i do like DeCastro and Sanders our line would be solid

@rockygentleman@calchiefsfan I like DeCastro with our 11. Asamoah, Hudson, DeCastro. As I read earlier this morning, "The tip of the arrow must be sharp".

I like this idea more IF professional talent evaluators conclude DeCastro is also RT material because: 1. RT is NO. 1 priority this year IMO; 2. no guarantee that Sanders or other starting caliber RT will be available to us in R2; and 3. we have so many pressing needs that must be addressed through combination of free agency and our top 4 or 5 picks even assuming Bowe and Carr are both resigned--NT, RBF, TE depth, SILB, QB depth-- and if either Bowe or Carr is not resigned then you can add that position as well. One more good free agency and draft this year, and assuming no key career threatening injuries this season, I think we could be in a position where in 2013 we could be drafting for depth/future succession and trading to stockpile higher round future round picks like the Patriots do. Hopefully, we will have enough FA success before the 2012 draft that we can do what you propose even if DeCastro is not a RT option, but right now...?

@JohnMorrow I would never want to put DeCastro at RT, The reason for optimism of getting a solid RT in the second is that this draft seems to be pretty deep at OT . Plus, I see our defense as being pretty solid and our offense a different story. In my opinion Interior o line is more of a need than d line. We couldn't even get 1 yard when we needed it. No push what so ever. That's why I like the DeCastro pick. But I do agree RT is our # 1 priority.

Agree defense is more solid than offense (assuming Carr is resigned), but NT is my #2 priority, even if Gregg re-ups for another year. He wore down this year and it takes awhile for d-linemen to develop. Sure didn't see much of our R6 NT pick last season, so I don't have a clue if he is going to ever be more than depth, if that. Never say never about DeCastro at RT until we know what the professional talent evaluators say and what our situation is and options are at the time a decision is required.

@JohnMorrow I have a problem with our beat writers Like Adam Teicher not giving us the intel on our non starting players. I have been wondering if because of the strike shortened off season last year if that didn't set Powe back. I would certainly like to see how he'll develop before we spend a high draft pick on another NT. I'm forever ticked that Pioli drafted Tyson Jackson instead of B.J. Raji when he had the chance.

I say no more drafting O lineman for one position then pushing them to play another.

Patrick while I think DDC would be a great pick after reading an article from kcchiefs.com about Hudson mentoring and having great chemistry with zebrie Sanders and based on the way this draft you've put together shakes out I say go with Trent Richardson and grab zebrie in the second I'm sure Rodney will do some lobbying for him plus that fits our MO in drafting teamates i.e dorsey jackson lewis mcluster

@kctenn44 That would work

@kctenn44 Sanders makes a lot on sense in the 2nd if we don't go OT in the first round, but he's been getting beat pretty consistently by the better pass rushers at the Senior Bowl this week.

@LyleGraversen @kctenn44 I saw that too, Lyle. Maybe Mims is now ready, I hope so.

We outsiders have about the same amount of info about both Mims and Powe--ZILCH. I am not about to buy the "Hope and Change" mantra any more now than in the Presidential race 3 years ago!
